Snowed earlier on today where I was in South Wigston. It snowed for a decent amount of time to be fair, mainly light snow but it came down quite a lot. At one stage the snowflakes were of a good size too.

Snow could hit Leicestershire tomorrow

 

An Arctic blast could bring snow to parts of Leicestershire next week.

Mercury weatherman Dave Mutton said the northerly winds could see wintry showers hit the country any day from tomorrow up until next Friday.

 

Dave, who has a mini weather centre in his back garden in Cosby, said: "It is really going to be cold.

"We have had a fabulous sunny weekend but the wind will change and the snow will come.

"The snow will hit Scotland and the north of England but it could sweep down as far as Leicestershire.

"It could bring snow and sleet but what we get won't hang around."

Dave predicted that temperatures in the county will struggle to get into double figures during the daytime and could plunge as low as -2C overnight.

Other weather experts say that in Scotland, thermometers will plunge to -6C overnight next week making Britain colder than Russia and Iceland.

Exacta Weather's James Madden warned Brits to brace for a freezing week from Monday.

He said: "Although it may feel pleasant at times this week, a major blast of winter awaits and this could even bring some wintry or hefty hail showers to much lower levels of the country at times throughout next week.

"Southern parts are likely to fare better during this period, but the northern half of the country is likely to see frequent weather systems bringing in rain and some wintry weather or snow showers across higher ground in the north within this period."

 

 

The Weather Channel's Brett Gibbons said freezing conditions will be made worse by heavy snow and thunder.

He said: "Parts of the UK are set be battered by blizzards as a cold front drifts south across the country on a bitter Arctic wind.

"Temperatures will plunge early next week when the bitter weather system moves causing heavy snow to fall on Monday.

"Northwestern Britain and Ireland will get the worst of the wintry conditions, which also include the possibility of hail and thunderstorms.

"Snow may even fall at lower levels during the strong north-westerly breeze making it feel much colder."

Dave Mutton said the sudden drop in temperatures will come as a nasty shock after such a sunny weekend.

He said: "We have been spoiled this weekend with a couple of lovely evenings with gorgeous sunsets."

So, looks like we could be in for a good dumping of the white stuff tonight.

 

Met Office Amber warning for the East Mids

 

Personally, I hope it snows like an absolute bastard. Got nowhere to go tomorrow so can have a snow day with the kids. 


Just as long as it has all gone by Monday morning of course!

Keep the cvnt. Heck you can have all of our snow we get here in Toronto too.
