What are you listening to?

Went to see Hamilton last night. Can't begin to say how good it was.

If you're into rap/hip hop/politics/history...and 18th century fiscal policies...then this is the show for you!!

Well, I know what I will be listening to soon after reading this review of Mavis Staples:

The holy spirit and Satan were battling for the control of Staples’s voice.  She is 78 years old and has decades of a fighting spirit in her. She sang a song about the march on Washington and then said, “I was there and I’m still there.”  Staples got me up on my feet. The guitar player, Rick Holmstrom, was sending waves into my body that I couldn’t get out. His guitar playing was rude. He didn’t care how you wanted it. During the slower and sadder songs, the guitar licks reminded us that there is a little fire at the center of a broken heart. The last note on Staples in my notebook is “Buy her ****ing record.”

Here's the whole article:

White Privilege II by Macklemore.

I can't think of anything less me than American popular rap yet I've really got into macklemore and this is a really thought provoking track.

Erm I'm not so sure. I actually conceptually like to a point what they're doing. But then it is just forming basic rythyms. Very quickly interesting concepts lose their interest.

I remember having that old bootleg years and years ago great show, also remember seeing black and white video footage of the show, they were some band back then (still are of course), what I forget is Bruce was pretty much lead guitar and damn good one too.

yeah also had the bootleg, for the past couple of years Bruce has been releasing remixed archive shows from all years on the last Friday of the month. Some really good ones, some familiar some not, well worth searching out.
