In my humble opinion, in no particular order:

'Mockingbird' Barclay James Harvest

'Superstar' Carpenters

'Goodbye To Love' Carpenters

'Radar Love' Golden Earring

'Witch Queen Of New Orleans' Redbone

'Run, Run, Run' Jo Jo Gunn

'Video Killed The Radio Star' Buggles....................................and so many more.

There was nowt wrong with the '70s

Early 70s and maximum cheese with this one.

You've got to love twin drum kits, though - and twin guitars and twin saxes. Not their fault what their sometime singer did in his spare time, but he's not involved in this.

A few years later...

Is it possible to distill rock'n'roll into a purer form than this?

Love Dee Dee and Johnny's moves on this one. Then add the world's most unlikely vocalist and a top-class drummer...

I like that - and was only previously aware of the Wurzels' version.  :D

Found this on Wiki, too - fairly amusing:

  • After the January 1994 attack on Nancy Kerrigan, a parody of "Brand New Key" circulated on radio stations. The parody featured lyrics from Tonya Harding's point of view, and included the chorus, "I've got a brand new pair of figure skates / You've got a busted knee; / They're gonna lock up my ex-husband and throw away the key."
