Soar Fox Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 You wouldn't consider Matty Fryatt in part exchange? No disrespect and not being partisan, but after achieving promotion to the biggest league in the world do you really see James Chester dropping down to the Championship when he is a guaranteed starter next season? Fryatt is different as he will only be a squad player. If that's aimed at me regarding Chester, then no I wouldn't expect him to drop down the league and sign for us. But him and Jack Hobbs are the only players I'd consider swapping for Kasper. Like I said if any deal was to be put in such place then the more realistic of the two is Hobbs. Though I doubt any deal like that would go ahead. Regarding Fyatt there's absolutely no chance would I consider swapping him with Kasper. What's Fryatt worth £750,000-£1 million tops. Kasper will go on to be a premiership regular and play at the top level for years.
Happy Fox Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 Well, you're entitled to your opinion on Fryatt, but I don't think it's one shared by your manager. But we have better options upfront in Wood and Nugent who are more prolific at this level, why we would we revert back to Fryupp?, the only players we could do with is Hobbs if he is surplus to requirements at Hull, likewise with Stewart, if you offer £2m and either one of those players I think he will most likely be gone.

Stewart is DEFINITELY surplus to requirements!!! There's something wrong with that lads character. To have all the ability in the world and not to make anywhere near the most of it is criminal.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 A couple of million for Schmeichel and get a million pound replacement. A 1m rated keeper is more than good enough for Championship standard.
kingfox Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 Hobbs, the overrated Jack Hobbs, no thanks. 3-4 million or nothing.
LeicesterAreGoingUp Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 would take hobbs but only with £3 m for kasper, IMO we shouldnt do business with them at all
Fox92 Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 Hobbs, the overrated Jack Hobbs, no thanks. 3-4 million or nothing. Solid defender at this level, as proved with us and at Hull. Plus, we need a defender to partner Morgan unless Moore starts alongside him (which I'd like to see again anyway), because I don't rate Whitbread and St Ledger will most probably leave.
Matt Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 Hobbs, Fryatt and 3 mil will do. It would do.....if you want us to take a step backwards.
Bilbo Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 Jesus I can't believe the amount of people being so flippant about Kasper leaving, especially to Hull who refused to deal with us. If reports are true we hounded them for Koren however they refused to sell one of their best players and in my opinion we should do the same. I lost count the amount of time Kasper saved our ass last season.
Brooksy Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 It would do.....if you want us to take a step backwards. Fryatt's underrated and I reckon Hobbs would be class next to big Wes.
DennisNedry Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 ffs we need to keep Kasper. The way to mount a promotion challenge next season is to keep your best players and bring in quality additions. Not selling our 2nd best player of the season would be a good start.
Matt Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 Fryatt's underrated and I reckon Hobbs would be class next to big Wes. Yeah in League One. Hobbs, I would have however in place of our best player last season? Who saved us so many points, who won us games? Nah, I want silly money or no sale for him.
StrovolosTiger Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 I think that's a very simple way of looking at the situation. Don't get me wrong, I think the "Tit-for-Tat" attitude is understandable, just as was our reticence at selling to a club that was perceived to be a competitor to us for promotion. However, there are changed circumstances now. This was why I was enquiring earlier in this thread about why Schmeichel has not signed a new contract or why you have not offered him one. If you put partisanship to one side for a moment, surely the best option is to maximise what you can get from the situation. That would mean letting him run his contract down is a very poor option. As someone has already has said you could EASILY replace what Schmeichel represents to you AT THIS LEVEL with a range of cheaper options. The lad at Barnsley is one that immediately springs to mind. With the balance from any Schmeichel deal, that would leave you with a nice wedge to invest in areas where you might want to strengthen for next season. I know your owners could afford to buy most players in this league, but this is no longer a factor given the restrictions which will be coming into place for next season.

With the balance from any Schmeichel deal, that would leave you with a nice wedge to invest in areas where you might want to strengthen for next season. In today's market £1.25m is nothing, particularly for the best goalkeeper in the division. If we keep Schmeichel for his final contracted year and he helps us to get promoted, then turning down the £1.25m will have been worth it, and he's likely to sign an extension to stay and play in the Premiership with us. If we keep him and fail to get promoted, we've only lost out on £1.25m, which isn't a great deal in the grand scheme of things. We'll do better to get rid of some of the fringe players who are on hideous wages rather than a linchpin of our team for a paltry fee. He is replaceable, that I agree with. But £1.25m is nothing short of an insult for a keeper of his quality, regardless of whether he's in his final year of contract or not. Anything in the region of £3m I think we'd be foolish to turn down.
Lesta Legend Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 It's quite simple really pay the going rate or go elsewhere.
SmithyFox12 Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 I'm sure even if he did leave it'd be a 'undisclosed fee' and we'd never find out how much
Jay Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 We are up the creek and in a situation where we have a stupid amount of high earners that we may be unable to shift, and I would imagine every player is for sale. Basically we are heamoriging money with a stupid wage bill. Selling kasper for say £2million and his wages would probably mean a £1million saving and £2million in the bank. Obviously you don't have a keeper then, but its possibly the easiest position to get a good young keeper in on loan. Now I don't want to see him leave but I fear we could have a very tough summer unless we can shift some of those high earning donkeys Gallagher, wellens, beckford, Danns etc very quickly we could end up in a situation of selling players we want to keep and being stuck with those we don't.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 We can do a good bit of business with Kasper. Personally I rate him but I don't rate him as high as other people do. His name is the way he gets rated tbh.

Well if the rumours are true, that Swansea and West Ham are likely to be interested in Kasper, then why sell him to the first bidder, especially for what is a complete joke of an offer. To be honest, if it was down to me, i would not even contemplate selling him to Hull, after their "we wont do buisness with Leicester" stance.
luke the fox Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 Your opinion Luke? Or something you know? :-) I know.
lcfcsnow Posted 1 June 2013 Posted 1 June 2013 For all those mentioning Fryatt, he's finished. He has a problem with his arch of his feet, and had specialised boots made for him during our league one season and the season after which worked wonders but I noticed from the start of the 2010-11 season, he had changed to a more standard boot. I don't know the reasons why, but he never looked the same even before his long term injury last season.
