Schmeichel to go then?

Hobbs under Pearson was a very good player here and at Hull, not perfect but very good... that's why he won player of the year at such a young age during a fairly successful season!

Maybe Keane will be better, but he really wasn't any better during his time here.

Danny Tiatto also won player of the year as did Stearman, do you rememeber those two so fondly?

Wow, you don't know what you are talking about!! Big Wes is a very good player at this level, but yet he isn't being courted by United, Chelsea or Arsenal ? Jack Hobbs is average at Championship level, I think a lot of you remember him a bit too fondly, he was hardly Franco Baresi! We can do much better by raiding Man Utd reserves again or any Prem club for that matter. Keane was twice the player Hobbs is/was/will be.

So top Championship players are courted by top 4 clubs and your slagging off players for not being Franco Baresi. And you're the one claiming other people haven't got a clue?

Nurse? I think we need a sedative over here. He's gotten a bit overexcited, bless.

Tiatto was already in his thirties when he played for us and had little potential to improve over the following years.

Stearman - well, the jury was out on him when he was with us and few people could imagine him making the cut at Wolves, let alone at Premier League level. He's a good defender, not great.

The difference being that they won the award when we were going through one of our worst ever periods....

I think you need an education, that makes no sense boy. Try re reading and please advise where I slagged someone off for not being Baresi? Engage brain before you type little lad.

Its far easier to look good when all around are playing to the best of their ability. This was the case when Hobbs was in the team

But there was a case for 6/7 players when Hobbs won it.

When the others won it, there wasn't really anyone else who had consistently performed well.

Thats a very good point, I just don't understand the love in for Jack Hobbs. There are better centre backs within the league/ prem reserves.

And when did they win those awards when we were languishing at the foot of the table with loads of shit players, the best of a bad bunch. Hobbs was one of the best of a pretty successful bunch. When at Leicester and Hull under Pearson he was part of two of the best defences in the league, that is a fact.

As i said he isn't perfect, but he's a decent championship player. Since Pearson left the first time we have attempted to replace him with St Ledger, Mills, Davies, Bamba, Bruma, Pereira, Vitor, Whitbread, Keane, Morgan.  Frankly no matter how much people want to hype up a couple of them, the only one to come close to Hobbs performances has been Morgan... and we conceded 4 more this year than we did with Hobbs and Brown at the back.

Errrr...didn't we raid Liverpool reserves for Hobbs?

Err yes and that is why we should do the same again. The figures that are being quoted for the deal as a whole are a joke. £4 million for kasper cash - done deal. Then spend the money elsewhere at a fraction of the price

I think kasper will go in the january window

I doubt he would want to, why give up a large signing on fee and extra money in the summer.

Sounds to me like hull want to shop at harrods and pay car boot prices for everyone.

So 120mil and they want a prem team for 6mill one season wonders lol

My god there is some right nonsense on this thread. Keane twice the player of Hobbs? What world are you living in?

Myth or what eh. Keane was decent but Hobbs was absolutely brilliant for us at times. He seemed to get better and better and better, I remember towards the end of 09/10 he was unbelievable.

Really seemed to tail off when Pearson left though.

I'd go out on a limb and say Keane cost us quite a few goals whilst he was here and people are look upon his perfoamances with rose tinted glasses.

I agree fully.

Scored a few as well though.

True. Definitely more than Hobbs.

The Dublin article today pretty much says Schmeichel to Hull is off. Happy about that. Credit to LCFC for having a backbone.
