I like it. Then again, I really liked the latest TLSP album.

 

I saw loads of indie kids ranting on twitter because there was no "tunes". Bands grow up though, good on them.

It does make you wonder a bit whether we've lost the ability to listen to full albums and appreciate them as such, given we're living in a time when people mix and match their favourite songs and make them into playlists more than ever before. I think you get loads more out of this if you listen to it all the way through.

Might be true these days, not for me though, every new album I get I'll listen to it at least 20 times on the trot before I really know if I like it or not.

 

If my album collection was based on the first listen I'd have about 5 albums.

At first I was pretty disappointed. Felt like Alex Turner and company had gotten full of their own creativity and fallen far short of whatever mark it was that they were aiming for. After letting it settle and further digest over the past week, I've come to really enjoy TBHC. It feels like they are laying the groundwork for the next album, which will be like combining the best of TBHC + AM and blow everyone away. You can hear shades of where they *could* go in songs like "Four Out of Five" and "Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino", and it's very encouraging.

Won't rush to get the new album as I've just found my copy of AM, unopened and unplayed, and lost for about four years.  Result though, was minutes away from buying it again when it turned up.

 

I haven't heard the new album yet, but from reading the whining Amazon reviews, I'm guessing it's quite good and an interesting listen

I've found it a really easy listen and more consistent than Tranquility Base was. Very chilled way to spend 40-odd minutes.

Will be my 4th time seeing them tonight and expecting it to be their best (again). Seeing the set lists this tour so far has been a great, a new opener every night. Reckon it has to be something big off of the first album for their first Sheffield gig in god knows how long, early guess is when the sun goes down.

The OH has held a grunge from 12 years of seeing them at Earls Court without her. So it’s a couples night out with my mate from London and his OH. Unsure of the plan other we are going Home Slice in the City
