Yes I work full time so have to book my leave, and I need to get in fairly quick to be sure of getting the dates I want.

In January we're off on a cruise from Singapore to Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam, and that was booked in April 2025. The thing with cruises is they are usually cheapest when they're released, and if you want to choose your cabin you need to be pretty quick too. We booked another cruise in the Caribbean for November 2027 just a couple of weeks ago. Weekend breaks we book pretty last minute, depends when and where we see cheap flights, but the 'big' holidays are planned well in advance.

Until 2024 I'd never been outside Europe so now I have a pretty hefty list of places I want to go and I think this is why I've fallen in love with cruising, it's a great way to see a little bit of a lot of the world in a short time frame. A lot of places I know I want to see slowly when we've retired so for now it's about going where we can within the constraints of annual leave.

And yes to Perth in November 2028, I know we want to go to Vietnam early 2028, so realistically for me it's the next big holiday window :)

Seriously cool - enjoy it all

Land and cruise for this one. We're doing a week on land in Peru, board the ship in Valparaiso, Chile sail to the Chilean Fjords, Argentina, Antarctica, Falklands, Uruguay and disembark in Buenos Aries. Fly to Iguazu, then on to Rio.

We're not doing an expedition cruise so, no hiking up glaciers or kayaking around icebergs. Although, we are on a small ship, circa 550 passengers so, we get to get nice a close to the scenery.

Do you have to go through Drakes Passage 😅

Will be based on the outskirts of Sienna, and then have a car to drive around to different spots each day. Beautiful region.

Anywhere you would recommend?

Arezzo.

I know it’s been mentioned already but the efficient Europeans are making a royal cluster of this EES process, you only have to register once every 3 years they say but it doesn’t matter if you have registered or not, your all in the same line and stuck with everyone else, which is why the Q’s are so big.

In time I guess the bigger airports will adopt different lines but this should be happening from the get-go, those smaller island style places that only have 5 machines, Corfu for example it’s going to have its visitors snaking around the runway directly in the sun as it can only hold about 50 people inside when it was the stamp process now it’s got 5 or 6 machines further into the room closer to where you enter so less room for people.

The lax attitude of the border staff is 1 of the main issues also as they only spring into action when a flight announces “last call for…” & then it seems to be the passengers fault as they start getting abrupt with them if they don’t stand in the right position or handover their passports quick enough.

You can reply all you like about Brexit but the system is failing due to the system, us Brits love a Q, we would join 1 just to see what everyone else is Q’ing for, but with EES we just stand there laughing in bewilderment at the system and the total mess they are making of it.
