  1. Being an amateur genealogist, I tried to trace William Wilson's family, as it would have been brilliant for them to have the photo. Unfortunately, there is just not enough information to go on. I found what is probably the registration of his death in 1929, and calculated that he was born in 1876, give or take a year. It's possible to obtain a copy of that death certificate, which might give the name of a family member as the informant, but I think it would be a lot of work, and you would need a lot of luck to trace modern descendants. It isn't helped by the name being fairly common. Anyway, I guess the best place for the photo is with the club historian. Anyone care to tell me how/where he can be contacted? Thanks for the comments everyone - fascinating discussion.
  2. Thanks so much DavieG - great detective work. I'm pretty sure it is young Mr Wilson. Shame he came to such a sad end. Eaststander
  3. Hi everyone, Reading FC fan here - hope you are all doing OK. I picked up this photo in a junk shop recently. It is a VERY long shot, but I wondered if it might be a Foxes player? The photo studio printed at the bottom is Aaron Pickering, of 43 Granby Street, Leicester. (Actually, it was 'forty three and a half' Granby Street, but I didn't know how to do the half on my keyboard). Does anyone know if the jersey he is wearing might have been the Foxes official strip at the time? I would guess the photo was taken in the early part of the 1900s. Best of luck for whatever remains of this season, and next of course.
