Yep. He can't win at the minute but the alleged selection of Silko Thomas at LWB is a real left field one, I think.

I’d have thought a left field pick would be just the man to play on left wing :D

Just clocked over the last two camps we’ve had a player involved at every youth level.

    U21 - Ben Nelson, U20 - Bade Aluko, U19 - Jeremy Monga, U18 - Louis Page, U17 - Hugo De Lisle, U16 - Darren Motsi

I’d like to hope Evans and Hutchinson might add to that in November based on their form.

    Pretty good going.

Nope, Nelson’s lost his place in England U21s cause he isn’t getting minutes here

The big issue on this is manager churn.  They come in "everybody has a clean slate", the manager is under pressure to get results relatively quickly, you don't risk or blood youngsters, they tend to go with experience.  Look at Cooper's choice's last season, and most of them not fit for purpose, PL experience.  Ayew's been ok and no more, rest pants, BDCR, Edouard, Skipp.

Absolutely. We desperately need some stability and long therm thinking at this club. It certainly won’t come from Rudkin.

    Are we?

King, Chilwell, Barnes, KDH, Thomas, Hamza, Heskey(!), Piper, Jakub, Scottish Cup winner Conrad Logan!

At the moment we are yes. Used to be our strong suit but not anymore. I take your point on Jakub but the rest of these all broke through and were at the point of getting first team football 5+ years ago.

This club doesn't provide young players with the opportunities they need to develop. He's been around the first team since 16, played u21s since 16, played for England at u20, will play for England u21 provided we give him game time.

Didn't get significant game time last time we were in the Championship so had to go on loan last season. Let's not repeat the cycle or he'll be going on a free in 2027.

Spot on. We’re absolutely woeful at developing young players past academy level. Nelson’s been in the same place at this club for years and it’s the same story (if not worse) for the likes of Alves and Braybrooke.

If we don’t change things up and start giving these players the opportunity to develop we’re going lose a whole crop of potential home grown talent.

Talk about crunching the numbers 😯

I’m not sure I would. Ederson Allison and Martinez are getting on a bit and vicario and raya are no better. We do need to have a succession plan in place though as the vultures will be circling in January I suspect.

What do you mean succession plan? We’ve got Ward :D

I mean, sure we want him to get minutes, but Okoli has proven himself at a higher level than Nelson has so far, he's not been great so far for us, but Nelson still doesn't get into the team ahead of Faes/Vesty/Coady. I don't think even Coady will play more than 10 games this season. So either he goes out on loan or he rots on the bench.

Fingers crossed for the first one but we’ll be relying or Rudkin to do some business >_<

To be honest I'm trying to work out exactly who we can give minutes to this season in order to utilise some younger players, but also not end up with our best players sat on the bench.
The issue we have is we have a lot of players who need game time but fitting them into the squad is going to be really difficult. If we sign a couple more players, say Fotis and El Khannouss, we then balancing is going to be hard.
Everyone wants to see Alves get minutes and preferably Nelson but where and who gets dropped? We need an attacking outlet in midfield and Alves is not going to be getting game time ahead of Buoanotte and El Khannouss if the papers are right about just how close we are to confirming him.
How do you fit them into that team?

Nelson should be getting picked ahead of Okoli for starters

Has anyone had the double big mac lately?. Right gob full i'll tell you.

Had one when they first came out. Not one of the 4 patties was lined up with the one below. Was like the leaning tower of burger 🍔

    Absolute disaster 🤦‍♂️

2-0 up at home against a League 2 side with 30 minutes left, literally the perfect situation to bring on Alves and Popov, instead we bring on another defensive midfielder, this is going to be such a depressing season that I would just love any opportunity to have something positive and exciting to enjoy

Can only hope they’re resting them in hopes of getting them loan deals in the next couple days
