  1. Will your next bike break as often as that ornamental thing you had last?

    Harsh but fair

Cheap, throwable, no plastic to break and middleweight - ER5/GS500/CB500/Diversion

And if I couold find one - I'd have another GPz305 in a shot as it remains one of the best bikes I've ever owned.

Wasn't that a belt drive. What you need is a nice ZX6R

  2. Not for the first time, I should point out that all of my opinions are worthless: I hated Harleys as much as I despised iPhones, iTunes and Apple computers. :D

Getting me something nimbler to run alongside it (once we've moved house), not commuting on the behemoth.

A nimbler partner sounds good! Anything is mind?

  3. I don't think my NTV650 or relaxed (read very slow) riding style would keep up with you but I'll pm you when I plan a trip out, I've family in Kettering so that could be a start point. Dave lost the Guzzi love when it let him down for the 85th time you can follow his blog here http://harley-dave.blogspot.com/

I tend to save the warp speeds for my trackdays! Besides, I'm still running my new bike in and am limited to 7,000 revs. Slow pace is good for me

  4. B6047

That was made for bikes! I haven't been on here for a little while, have you still got your Guzzi? Edit: I've just read back through the thread - you have a Harley? Wasn't that a swear word in your household at some stage?

I think I'll be taking a few trips around Northants, Leicestershire and Rutland through easter any advice for good routes.

It's about time I met some of you FT'ers. Give me a shout when you're planning on being in the area.

I tend to start off from my home town, Rothwell, Nothants and take the A6003 from Kettering, through Rockingham and Oakham. From there, the A606 takes you straight into Melton Mowbray. It can be done in about 30 mins if you really push it or 45 - 1 hour at a relaxed pace.

From there, I tend to use Daggers Mario's road on the way back.

  5. Cool Bike Munzie, you could do with getting that over here for a blast across the mountain. My money is on Cameron Donald taking victory on his at this years TT.

    To fast for me though!

I've always fancied taking a trip to the TT but never got round to it. I think it must take some planning given it's popularity. The place must be at bursting point when it's on.

I'll just have to settle for the back roads around Northants and Leicestershire for the time being. If you squint a bit, some of the roads around Rutland resemble the IOM.

  6. I'm not daft enough to start my riding career on a serious bike, I've got a nice and reasonably safe Honda NTV650 to start me of, pity I'm too tight to to tax it in the middle of the month and have to wait until the 29th to get it on the road.

That's a great bike to have. Two of my mates bought the same model and won't change.

Let's hope the weather holds for you.

  7. No luck with eBay?

15 watchers and not one bid, quickly followed by several post-autions e-mails from Poland, Spain and Portugal all asking if I would deliver overseas!

Some of my mates are planning a long weekend away for the Le Mans 24hr race next year. This, coupled with our current exceptional weather, is swaying my decision about selling.

  8. They are even more brilliant now I've passed my test and can have a bike with more than 125cc's. No restrictions now.

Well done! And very quickly too!

What you need now is a Suzuki GSXR1000. Just like the one I have for sale

  9. Spent this week wondering what I'd get more enjoyment from - season ticket or aftermarket pipes? It was easy. ST has been cancelled and the new pipes will be fitted shortly after my return.

Why do you need aftermarket cans? Harley's sound brilliant as they are. Other than pissing off the neigbours, I know where my money would have gone.

  10. Just got back from Donnington. Fantastic racing and atmosphere. Stood and the Foggey Esses and got a great view of some spectacular crashes, including Rossi's moment of madness. Credit where due however as he got back on and still finished fifth.

Toseland was mobbed as he came around at the end. He needs to grow a bigger pair of bollocks as a podium place was his to take.

I can't believe it's the end of July, as my toes and fingers are fozen from the ride home. Roll on Summer!

  11. Hmmph. I live a couple of miles up the road. Now I'm gonna have to contend with listening to 'orrible noisy bikes all day. Grrrrr. And it's windy... and it's blowing from that direction.:whistle: It is at least dry for you - for now, anyway. :)

You shoud've come down and you would have been converted :P

I had a fantastic day (although some were less fortunate - there were a lot of nasty crashes). I was wearing my Leicester shirt over the top of my leathers for the first couple of sessions before realising that if I crashed, I would ruin it. Did'nt really think about the consequences for me or my £5,000 bike in the event of an accident - just the safe wellbeing of my football shirt ;)

God's weather department must have read my previous post as the rain only came down at lunch. By the time we started the afternoon sessions, it was dry again.

I also set a new personal best of 163mph down the main straight. I was the happiest Munzie alive yeasterday although paying the price today as I ache like bugger.

  12. Wonder if I should take the Electraglide on a track day?

I thought Harley Davidson was a swear word in your dictionary. What made you change your mind & when do you get it?

Bring it on a trackday. You'll be a hell of a lot quicker than some out there.
