Billy was a Nottinghamshire-born versatile defender who arrived at City in March 1899 for a near-two year spell, playing over 50 games in all competitions and even pitching in with five goals.
He made his name with Nottingham Forest and was a key player in their 1898 FA Cup success before moving on to Fosse the following season as a part of a deal that also brought Tom Bradshaw to the club.
He was primarily a right-back but could, and did, play across the back line during his time at the club. That came to an end in January 1901 when he moved on to Birmingham, then known as Small Heath, but he couldn't hold down a regular starting role. Moves to Watford, Hinckley Town, Chesterfield and Brighton, amongst others, followed.
Interestingly, Wragg actually turned to acting for a brief spell and co-starred in one production alongside Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel, before they reached their worldwide fame.
