  1. Bought my first pair of football boots since school days

I'm size 11 in normal shoes, ordered 11, 11.5 and 12 of these

    https://www.sportsdirect.com/adidas-goletto-vii-football-boots-firm-ground-203041

Even the 12s feel too small, so hoping someone can help.

Do boots often run smaller than normal? And should they be a very snug fit even when the right size?

Cheers and sorry for the probably daft questions!

Edit: all sorted in the end, tried another pair of Adidas at a shop and they fit fine in normal size.

  2. Thanks both, yes I guess that's it and I can see some logic to it. Just seems odd to me, if you're worried about high winter cases why would it be a good idea to start off from a position we're in 39k cases a day, vs. say 8k/6k cases a day like France/Germany are on. (Numbers just picked from worldmeters.info) :dunno:

yes i understand but we need to get as many people double jabbed as possible as quickly as possible - that small difference in efficacy between six and eight weeks needs to be weighed against the number of v ill people that will result from the 2 weeks extra.  do you know for sure that there are enough mrna jabs to bring the wait down to six weeks ??

You're spot on. It's very clear the strict 8 week limit is all about managing the limited supply we have. As was the 12 week rule at the start.

Sensible rules given the situation we're in with supply, shame we haven't done as well as other nations on mRNA volumes but there we go... You win some you lose some.

I am trying to decide whether the UK Gov either didn't know what they'd signed, didn't care, or knew and thought the ensuing row would work in their favour with the electorate. None of which look good. I imagine it's a combination of the first two which is a pretty fair reflection of the British public.

    It's definitely option 3

New update came out over 3 hours ago. Still can't get in to a game. Terrible servers and they'll never usurp Fortnite with all these persistent issues every time there's a reasonable update. It's my go to game so I'll be playing throughout the season but a hell of a lot of players will log on for the new content, not be able to play the game and just never come back to it. For the size of the developer/publisher, knowing the load and pressure they'd be under, it's really poor.

I've been playing loads the last few seasons but haven't played s9 yet.

Have you managed any games yet since the update? What do you make of the new legend Valkyrie if so?

  6. They're acting like a right bunch of ***** here - can see us getting ****ed over with Pfizer export bans screwing up our second doses. Hope not! :fc:

Not sure what leverage we've got over them to stop this export ban, I can't imagine they're bothered by avoiding bad press or doing the morally right thing when there's millions of vaccine doses on the line. Maybe we'll just have to sack off new first doses of Pfizer and reserve what we've got for second doses or something.

One thing that will be interesting from all this:  A few legislators spoke out to say they were keeping an eye on the gme situation.  Now obviously they meant in terms of the redditors 'manipulating' the market, but after the shenanigans of today do we think they're actually going to do anything about the very obvious collusion by industry insiders?

    Doubt it 👎

Annoying but predictable situation I'm in with a delivery from the Netherlands - hopefully resolved soon! Is anyone else experiencing similar?

Sadly this time there was no British alternative for me to order from instead

Speaking to a colleague at work today, there grandma had Covid in October, survived and was one of the first patients to get covid Pfizer vaccine in December, she had the second dose earlier this month.   Scarily she has now tested positive for Covid again. They believe a different strain....but what does that say about the vaccine.....

The vaccine offered 95% protection (https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2034577) so perhaps she is just one of the unlucky 1/20 :(. From what I've read (can't find the link now, may have got it mixed up with Astrazeneca one) I had seen that the vaccine reduced severity even in those who did catch covid afterwards, let's hope it has that effect in this case.
