Any other FoxesTalkers also do any coaching in their spare time?
Next season, starting in March here I’m taking on my first senior men’s coaching role, and whilst excited also a bit nervous. I was wondering if we had any other coaches maybe Ruuds on here? Or local Sunday League team, or any level.
Anyone want to share any tips, videos, ideas or progress you are making as a coach.
Maybe even organise a friendly or two for those in a similar area, or anyone looking to come out for a preseason tour of Melbourne.
Started at 17 in Sunday League - now 34 this year and said Sunday League team is still going, however last couple years I am chairman instead of manager. Ages 16 - however old!
Managed Saturday Football from park pitches to non league, now currently assistant manager at Quorn in Step 4 of the Pyramid
Also coaching after school where I work, with Yr 7 - Sixth Form
Crammed in a lot of experience, so if you need any pointers or advice, don't hesitate to drop me a message.

Good day for Leics clubs in the Cup. Really good result for Barwell
Went Rugby v Hednesford, proper cup tie 2-2
Proper surprised at that result. Went to Rugby v Students last Tuesday and they got completely outplayed.
We played Hednesford last week, set up was immense, not going to talk about the result though
However, back to winning ways beating Worcester Saturday, their first league loss in 12 months at home! some lovely goals if you fancy a little watch on youtube.

Not for me. Inconsistent, temperamental and I suspect could be a cancer in the changing room
What a strange analogy

Assistant is decent too I heard @Tevez
Hinckley got a pretty controlled win against a Highgate side much diminished from last season. Malvern Town next which should prove a much firmer challenge.
😂😂
Been a really good pre season to be fair, lads look good. The jump from step 6 to 4 has been a good challenge, so happy on a personal level
Sutton coldfield in the first game on Saturday, should be a good battle

In the Fa Cup: Lutterworth, Hinckley AFC, Leicester Nirvana, Melton Town and Shepshed Dynamo are all at home. A few in the Midland League such as Leicester St Andrews and Saffron Dynamo.
Best way of finding out is to check the FA Full Time page for each league. I would also recommend the Non-League Paper, out each Sunday. Gives the next week's fixtures for virtually all non-league.
Really impressed with Melton's facility. Pitch now re-done and the bar is probably one of the best.

Can't wait to see it pan out. Think we'll still a touch light in a couple of areas but generally we've done well in retention and new signings. Battle is always against the Chairman. Should be another enjoyable season watching. All the best with it Shaun it's been a long journey since going against each other in the Charnwood Sunday League
Appreciate your words mate, should be a good season. Still doesn't feel real compared to where I was on a Sunday morning to now. But I guess working hard and staying in the game does give you chances, so really looking forward to it!

Been a busy Summer for me! Having left Ingles as manager to join Quorn as assistant manager. Having only a handful of training sessions and 2 games, it's been a really good start.
To anyone that supports Nuneaton, I think you'll do well this season but having been in that Midland League Div 1 next season, the introduction of the Leicester teams will bring a completely different physicality to the league. (and everyone will up their game to try and beat you, like Hinckley
)
On QFC, we beat Alvechurch Saturday, they did change their whole 11 at HT but it's good to see it slowly come together ready for the league campaign.

We've made the play offs! Needed a point v Heather to secure it. Sent the goalie up 90+5 and he ends up scoring. Carlsberg Saturday

Very good game yesterday, shame for Hinckley as Ingles pipped us 1-0 but withstood about 60 minutes of the kitchen sink and about 30 of those with ten men, with some superb saves from their young keeper.
Just need to tick off wins now, should be looking to win most if not all until Droitwich away in March, keep the distance as I can’t imagine the chasing pack won’t drop points with how the season has gone. If we do manage it though I’m hoping it’s Ingles that come up with us (or anyone apart from Droitwich at least!).
Yeah, you'll be fine.
Game - wasn't good for my heart rate!! Thought we played well and defensively probably one of the best. We got absolutely peppered 2nd half!!
-
Ingles beat Hinckley on penalties in the Senior Cup last night! Took a few hidings off them, so it was nice to score late and then go on and win at penalties.
Hathern, Kirby or Barrow/North Kilworth in the last 4.

Hinckley grind out a tough away win at Wednesfield in baking conditions, puts them four clear after 9 games. Some difficult games coming up but the most positive start in years for AFC.
Ingles also going very well, massive win against Stapenhill too. Play off dark horses perhaps?
22 more points and we're safe

Been a great month for Ingles, playing 7 league games (W4, D2, L1) and winning on pens in the vase! This time last year we was in the relegation zone so a massive improvement!
Some big hitters to play in September & October

Anyone worked out why he’s gone?
Apparently big scrap v Belper last week in a friendly, already been warned about future conduct from club**. Brad Munn and Lewis Mcgugan from Lough Dynamo have got the gig (with a lot of players leaving).
**Don't shoot the messenger

Yeah Saffron were piss poor to be brutally honest. Birstall been around the block at that level and you'd think be top five again.
Went Aylestone Pk 3 Histon 2 on Saturday - they started off a mess at the back until their quality going forward and at set pieces made the difference. Got a lot of Leics best attacking players at that step but I just wonder if their lack of dislinciple will hurt them.
Some money been spent in that division with Daventry and Wellingborough. That's before you have St Neots as well coming down.
Yeah done very well to replace the 4/5 that have gone to Hinckley LR - they will be decent at Step 5. But got a ropey red card in them! Aylestone's set up is lovely to be fair.

400 at Saffron Dynamo tonight, so some decent money there made by them.
Birstall far too for good them though on the pitch
Did you go? Saffron were very poor, long season ahead for them. I like that groundhopper weekend, would rather play on a Friday than a Sunday though!
Off we go first game of the season on Saturday, Allscott Heath all the way in Sunny Telford, won the treble at Step 7, losing 1 game all season. Going to be a tough one!

Is that really the level of badges you need now?
Not for first team coach at Step 4 but if you're going to jump into management after, the minimum is Uefa B at that level - the qualifications and standards for getting a gig at that level is constantly going up, I've listened to a podcast he did and he seemed to come across really well. He's someone i'd like to learn off really if i wasn't managing - recruits well, plays a good style and wants to win

Hope you push on mate, enjoy having a Leicestershire fixture amongst the endless horrible Wolverhampton games and two hour Shropshire visits.
To be fair we’ve been perennial favourites for a while and never got the job done
I think how well we do balances on who we keep, retention has been awful the last couple years and it means we inevitably start slow and drop points. Slightly more confident this year as I think the squad enjoy playing with each other currently and think that they can get the job done this season. A long few weeks before we find out what we’re starting with though…
Thank you mate, I love playing against Hinckley but haven't won against them yet! It's honestly like playing Man City. Just got to ride the bull.
Pre season has come round already!! We start back again Monday
Anyone in and around the Thringstone area (and to any other non league lovers around) would like to ground hop and come to an Ingles game, please DM me, you're more than welcome to visit (I get 2 free entries every home game!!

After a 13th place finish in Midland Football League Div one (Step 6) next season, I will be managing Ingles again in 23/24 - going to be difficult but we know the league now! Some good journeys to get through, Shawbury who played in Ludlow last season (Had them on a Tuesday night - foul) now play near Shrewsbury's ground. I would probably have Hinckley as favorites this year.

I hope so but that’s the trouble with play-offs, it’s winner takes all ultimately
I’d hope you’re right as we’re seeming a lot more resilient so far as other teams around us are beginning to falter and drop silly points. It’s a long season to go however so we can only wait and see!
I manage Ingles and Hinckley are the team that are tough to play against especially on 3G, if you get a home draw in the Semi, you get the home draw in the final! They will be very tough to beat.

Hinckley AFC into the MFL League Cup semi-final- even better that Atherstone made it through as well. Would be excellent to win it of course but a Hinckley-Atherstone match up is the dream. Could probably be looking at the mid-hundreds for a semi, a final you might even be looking at breaching a four figure gate. They’ve hit form and look a lot tighter defensively in the last eight games or so too. So far they’re the in-form team going into the run-in, keeping it up and getting 2nd spot would be massive, unlike last year you’d think they have a good chance against any of the potential five play-off rivals, whereas Belper or Radford felt like it would be an uphill battle in the final last year.
Think they will win the play offs, especially if home draw in the Semi's.

Time for the Leicestershire round-up
Step 3
Coalville increasingly getting themselves in with a shout. Leiston dropping points as held them back as Tamworth look the main threat. Barwell are eight clear of relegation with games in hand.
Step 4
Harborough continue to chase the playoffs in a division where the title race looks one of the best in the pyramid. 5 points away but doable. Sheepshead and Loughborough are stuck firmly in the middle pack while Hinckley LRFC have down worked themselves away from the relegation spots.
Step 5
UCL North
Loughborough Uni are the leaders and Nomads look set to compete with them for the title. 2nd will see automatic promotion as the Uni can not be promoted. Melton and Quorn well within shout for the inner-step playoff. Nirvana are safely in the pack but Heather are eight points off the title.UCL South
Lutterworth Town are battling to stay up - 3 points from safety. Oadby somehow as high as 9th.
Step 6
UCL Div 1
Aylestone Park near surefire champions - 7 more wins as it stands gets them the title. Birstall looked well positioned for a playoff semi-final. Kirby Muxloe and Saffron Dynamo mid-table. St Andrews are two points from safety.
MFL Div 1
Ashby Ivanhoe lost the crucial clash of the top two teams this weekend, therefore they are five behind Dudley Town. Hinckley are within the playoffs and have building their squad up for a tilt at them. Ingles managed by a poster formerly of this parish are mid-table.
South Mids Div 1
Lutterworth Athletic comfortably 8th
