Where’s the low ball offer coming from? He’s started in 1 Championship win since November and his attitude stinks. No PL team is going to touch him or, I doubt, any club with promotion aspirations. That just leaves clubs who can’t afford him.

The only chance he goes is if we buy out his contract but his agent isn’t going to entertain that unless he’s got somewhere for him to go as a free agent.

Can't get more low ball than for free, I guess!

he'll go to a London championship club, or a  mid table Spanish club

    Who is paying him then

Dunno mate, but no way we can afford to pay his wages, so we'll accept any low ball offer that comes in, I'd imagine

I said to him, do you think we can get £5m, he said no chance! United looking to pay half that

Thing is though mate, I don't know who on Souttars team you're talking to, but if the buyer (Sheff Utd for example) isn't willing to meet what we need (ie bare minimum) he won't be sold.

It's a balance to be met across all out goings this pre season. If we can get a couple of million over on another deal, then we could accept a couple under on the Souttar deal.

Dont even think that would be useful to us, technically he is probs better than 99.9% of league 1 players but will get absolutely bodied/bullied currently in that league at his age as we saw in the championship when he was largely ineffective or missing in games.

no so sure that's true. We'll see (hopefully).

Was talking to one of his team last weekend, Leicester cannot afford to keep him, he doesn’t have a relegation clause in his contract and will join Sheffield United in the coming weeks for a fee in the region of £3m - we aren’t in a position to negotiate for more as they know under no circumstances can he stay at Leicester due to his wages

We are in a position to negotiate, as there is still a contract in place between two parties.

We have to negotiate to the book value.

If that agreement can't be reached, he stays, and we pay his wages (at the ridiculously high level)

We won't go into admin based upon the Souttar details/deal alone. The risk will be balanced over all the outs and ins to happen over the pre-season. Hard work for LCFC ahead this summer.

Of course it won't.... that would show they have a plan .... which I doubt very much

    Yeah, can't argue with that.

Local news here today says Notts County have already signed three promising new players. Which goes to everyone's point.... get a fuching move on!!!

People fall into the trap of thinking we are doing this every time lol

It's not a trap mate. We really need to get this appointment right.

I guess what I'm trying to say is we should neither rush or take too long !

It's the same pattern of inaction that has led to a death spiral with 3 relegations in 4 years.

There is a shit load of work to do, and we can't afford to piss around.

Other clubs are appointing managers we could have appointed, leaving us with the dregs.

Other clubs will be agreeing deals with players their manager wants who we could have signed.

We were relegated in April and it's now June. The concept of an appointment being "rushed" is already long gone.

    Shall I continue:D

    Yes please

This is a very good point, but unfortunately we are taking about City here.

Surely it's better to appoint the wrong manager early rather than the wrong manager late, as it's pretty much inevitable  that we won't appoint anyone decent anyway.

Maybe I didn't articulate what i wanted to properly.

    You've done a better job.

It's critical we get the right man first time, which I feel lends itself to both our points

  10. To be fair, what is the rush! Hear me out.

It's going to be a very very long summer, especially with the World Cup.

We actually don't want to 'rush'. We need to make the right appointment, so timing is everything.

What if we gave it to a guy who is freely available, yet two days later, a more ideal candidate loses his job at another club.

We are in limbo, but we have to time it right.
