  1. Ipswich fan in peace (again). Thank you very much for a very enjoyable 15 minute skim of this thread. I thought our fans had a more prominent tendency than other team’s supporters to be hyperbolic, but you guys really take it to another level. You're currently half way through walking the league in spectacular fashion and set to break a lot of records on the way. Despite this, a significant portion of you are wetting the bed because you only managed a draw against your closest competitors this season (despite still being 7 pts clear of 2nd). For what it’s worth - I thought you were by far the better side tonight, and Boxing Day was a closer affair. I seem to be in the minority with this opinion though! What I can’t understand, is the snobbery a lot of you have towards us as the ‘plucky underdogs with a shoestring budget’. ”Et tu, Brute” is the phrase that springs to mind. In 2016 you won the title, but evidently you lost a bit of class in doing so. All the best in the Prem, maybe we’ll see you there.
  2. I think we’ve got a bit more depth than people give us credit for to be honest, especially in those number ten positions. I also think we’ll make some signings in January. The only players that would be irreplaceable are Davis and Morsy in my opinion.
  3. See my response here and you’ll see I don’t disagree with you.
  4. The reason I’m confident is because we are so well drilled it enables us to consistently win the banana skin games (Boro, Watford, Sunderland - all away). Admittedly, we struggle when playing teams like yourselves and Leeds. Despite how great McKenna is, we have a squad that was assembled in League One. They are all playing out of their skin, but they struggle to dominate against you and Leeds due to the quality you have. A couple of my mates are Leicester fans, so I too hope we can enjoy automatic promotion together.
  5. I thought tonight was a great game (from itfc fan). I left Portman Road thinking we were the better team, but after seeing replays of Harness and Burgess incidents I’ve realised we’ve had luck on our side tonight. It’s the most upbeat I’ve been after a draw for a very long time, and happy to be in this position on Boxing Day. Tonight helps us brush off the Leeds result, which I’m taking with a pinch of salt. I knew they have the capabilities to thrash us, but I don’t think they have what it takes to grind out 6 wins a row against teams they’re expected to beat. I’m more worried about Southampton, but ultimately I feel we will hold them both off. Expect us to be ambitious in January!
  6. In a previous season?
  7. Thanks. I didn’t interpret the post to be particularly scolding, it was a case of the straw breaking the camel’s back after seeing the same comments from opposing fans for months. We’re nearly halfway into the season and we’ve accrued more points after 20 games than any Championship club has done in previous seasons. It feels as if our start is still seen as a fluke from the outside, but we aren’t going away. I guess you guys can relate somewhat…
  8. Lurking Ipswich fan here, can’t resist biting to this because I see so many Leicester and Leeds fans commenting on our supposedly small squad. What makes you think this? Our reserve team knocked out a strong Wolves team in the cup and we have competitive depth in every position on the pitch (with the probable exception of ST). Moreover, expect us to have a busy January. We made four big signings in January last season, who have all been key players this season. In the summer we weren’t an attractive enough option for players that matched our budget and ambition (Auston Trusty and Ellis Simms for example). Hopefully we won’t encounter that problem as much in the transfer window due to our league position, and the opportunity for players to be coached by Kieran McKenna. Will we make top two? I don’t know, probably 50/50. I’d still back McKenna to get us up in the playoffs though. Exciting season though, Boxing Day has all the ingredients for a cracker.
