  1. Fair enough but just think it makes it an awkward situation for all concerned for example say he drops a catch with Hampshire needing 10 to win
  2. Don't think Mike will be fit Southern Brave will probably be playing Saturday so doubt Rehan will be available even though he's only played 2/8 and Can't see see Holland being allowed to play against his parent club
  3. 3 Gloucestershire players in the squad .Rehans brother also Inc after one wicketless list A match nice to see players having to work hard to earn an England call up
  4. Sadly not it's just the top 3 side who finishes top gets a bye through to the SF
  5. The main issue with that is that there's barely any cricket played during the school holidays 2 or 3 days in July 1 day in August fixtures are a joke. When I first started going down in the late 80s early 90s there was a game down there every other week plus for the really keen fans 2nd team fixtures were regularly played at GR
  6. I agree that we are so much better then we were 10 years on the pitch not so sure about off the pitch,.You say 500K is not a huge amount of money but you are talking losses of around 1M Inc the losses of last year. Take away the ECB money and there's very little money being generated. Despite improved performances crowds getting lower if anything and I know a few of our older members saying that won't renew next season the ridiculous fixture list just 1 days cricket at GR in july and money being tight esp since the loss of the winter fuel allowance being the main reasons
  7. Spoke to Bill Maddy at the ground today sorry to report it looke like the club will be posting losses of over 500k this year following losses of 420k last year. The gamble to make the top 4 in the T20 didn't pay off nor has the prediction from Jarvis that Rahane would attract an extra 500 Indian fans on the gate.On a brighter note great win today
  8. OK then Jeremy Bates world number 347 at the time beating world number 4 Michael Chang at Wimbledon in 1992 or Ian Flanagan world number 766 beating world number 9 Mark Phillippoussis at Queens in 2004 are great examples of what can happen in a one off game.
  9. Not really pro sport just about any result possible on a given day remember mid table non league side Sutton United knocking defending champions Coventry city out the FA cup a few years ago
  10. Careful Cakey you will have Tommy Fresh on your back saying what a strong side Surrey fielded. Changing subjects what our your thoughts on Rehan Ahmed still only young I know not even 20 until next week but he seems to have gone backwards this season.Bowled poorly in the 100 and not even selected for the last few games. Let's hope he comes good again and don't end up like Dom Bess Mason Crane and Danny Briggs who were all considered the next big thing and are now just average County cricketers
  11. Rockin all over the world sung by 10cc according to Richard Rae nice to know his knowledge on music matches his cricket knowledge
  12. Yes but the way the game was going they had a decent chance like I say I watched it on the stream it was a surprise that they got that last wicket didn't look likely
  13. What have I ignored? I watched the game on the stream Essex put on 68 in 6 overs Glamorgan players were spread on the boundary and along with the Glamorgan commentator were seriously panicking Essex needed 32 off the last 20 balls yep I call that on the ropes
  14. You said sides can still lose games with a decent line up out I agreed with you but added the obvs remark that's its less likely if you field your strongest 11.How have I ignored what you said
  15. Can think of one side who aren't
  16. Take it you didn't watch it Essex last wicket pair put on 68 in 6 overs Glamorgan were seriously on the ropes. Of course you can lose games with a decent line up but far more chance of losing if you put out a sub standard side
  17. Not the point they chose to rest there best bowler and best batsman in a companion they have a decent shout in and it almost cost them Essex 2nds had them on the ropes. Another good effort by that strong Surrey side yesterday only lost by 107
  18. Not necessarily they have to play each other so one of them will lose points plus we play Glamorgan who aren't particularly taking the comp serouisley they rested there 2 best players Van der Gugden and Ingram yesterday to play those well known cricketers Asa Tribe and Ben Morris.can you imagine us resting Rahane and one of the bowlers and playing Jake Tarling and Sam Wood
  19. It's on youtube unlike Leicestershire you can watch it for free
  20. No ho hasnt played for India in over a year and at 36 unlikely to play again
  21. Good example of the lack of respect for the competition Glamorgan we are going well have decided to rest 2 of there best players Ingram and Van Der Gugden today just bizarre
  22. Did anyone on here go the 80s Concert last night?
  23. Good makes it a more satisfying win if we play against the strongest side Sussex can muster. Farbrace has rightly imo been getting bags of criticism for the sides selected so far and has thankfully put out a stronger squad let's hope they play
  24. I've never said Sibley or Burns should be either playing or not playing I simply said that they are not great white ball cricketers and yes I know Sibley had a good knock yesterday ,You only have to look at the table to see how Surrey regard this competition. Feel sorry for the sussex academy players playing against the side we are fielding tomorrow if we bat first expect 350 they might scrape 200
