I know people are saying Pickford was the problem, but Reece James totally left his man for that goal. Declan Rice totally left his man too for the first…it’s terrible defending not Pickford..

Sometimes you have to accept it's a really good goal, every aspect of their second goal was quality. It was very hard to defend that.

When Hull City won promotion back to the Premier League by beating Middlesbrough in the play-off final it came with guaranteed riches of around £200m.

Yet in a strange twist, winning that game means Hull must sell players before the end of the month to avoid a potential points deduction in the Premier League.

The Tigers have an overspend of around £6m on their profit and sustainability (PSR) calculation. Under English Football League rules, that could lead to a six-point penalty.

It is a breach caused by promotion bonuses included in the players' contracts.

Had Hull lost to Boro, they would not be in danger of exceeding the maximum losses of £39m for the past three seasons and there would be no points penalty in the Championship.

    It's crazy

PSR has turned into an absolute joke.

    Just scrap it.

It's doing nothing but keeping the biggest clubs at the top - Chelsea find a new hotel to sell every year - while smashing ambition amongst the rest.

I've seen far, far fewer flats being flown from houses and cars so far this world Cup. In fact, I saw my first car this morning,  that had a St Georges Cross fluttering in the breeze as it went past.

This applies to houses too. In previous world cups, there have been plenty showing their colours hanging from upstairs window sills and so on.

I hope it isn't a consequence of folk being reluctant to fly the flag after all the negative spin that's been placed on it in recent times.

I think a lot of people have put flags out recently in spite of any spin.

My own thoughts is it's quite a bit because of simple apathy towards this particular tournament based on how corrupt both FIFA and the hosts have been shown to be. (That might not be much different to the past couple of iterations of the WC, but it's certainly more public this time.)

Suspect the world cup didn't really feel real until recent days and with England not having started yet maybe people aren't yet feeling it.

That said, flag flying doesn't feel like a fun way to support your country right now. It's been hugely politicised by the same people complaining about it's politicisation, as somebody else put far more eloquently than I on another thread recently.

The SpaceX bubble continues to grow.

Still, I guess what it does is make the conditions very clear. Either it fulfills its deadlines and gets humanity to the Moon and beyond in short order, or it doesn't and everyone involved loses practically everything. No middle ground.

Tesla has failed to do anything like what musk promised yeah had a huge market cap. For some reason the markets price in musk as able to turn anything into gold even when it's all bluster.

I do fear what happens when markets realise musk rarely meets any delivery targets ever. Just share price targets based on nothing.

I listen to a football podcast about Exeter City, one of the Co-Hosts is very close to the club, and is brother is on the board at the club.

He said we’re sniffing round their striker, Jayden Wareham.

Scored 19 in 46 appearances for a team that went down.

    Meh

Id rather this than journeymen. Maybe we can uncover some up and coming gems. It's our great chance. That and some prem loans

British food doesn't deserve anywhere near the amount of hate that it gets. I've been to several countries with worse food thab the UK.

Britain has good produce but much of the general public can't cook even basic meals nor has an appreciation of the good food available to them. In other European countries a greater % of the population can cook and understands what constitutes good food produce.

    Both correct imo.

Fantastic produce, fantastic chefs, a big chunk of the population that doesn't want to be able to cook beyond heating things up.

I really didn't think this would be an unpopular opinion but the amount I've heard about it I'm starting to think otherwise:

I don't give a shit about hydration breaks in football. It's hot out there, it's for player welfare, it pauses the game for like a couple of minutes. It's not a big problem.

Use the time to go for a piss, get a drink, check your phone. It's not the end of the world and it really isn't killing the intensity of the game, that's a really stupid claim.

It was little over 20° in a closed roof arena the other day. Then the players go back to restart and aren't allowed until the music stops when the adverts stop. A quick drink like in previous world cups is fine. 3 minutes of ads that even the players don't want isn't.

I think his appointment smacks of Claude Puel's in 2017 a bit!

Puel ended up being a good appointment.

His football was boring with not enough end product but recruitment was pretty good and I think the move to possession football coupled with that recruitment is what gave Rodgers a really strong base.

Doubtful about Martin who seems to be up his own backside but who knows

They already had that with Global Hypercolour t-shirts, which reacted to body heat to change colour. Remember them? Awful. I had one of course and looked an idiot lol

I didn't have one but wish I did at the time, despite your misgivings! As an adult it would be awful but I was probably 12 when they came out

Do you mean having a printed design on the back? If so just curious why this is such a source of hatred for you? I don’t mind either way just interested to know lol

I see somebody's t-shirt as they walk towards me and I see who it is and I see the design.

I don't turn around and watch them going away and then marvel at the design.

If I want to see how it looks I want to look in the mirror. My neck doesn't swivel 180° to do that if it's on the back.

    It's an unnatural abomination.

Let's put it this way, when this fad ends in a year or two, do you think it'll be making a future comeback? Not a chance. They're the 3D TVs of the t-shirt world.

    30% now.

When can we sell and cash in? lol

Edit - Apparently I can sell immediately on Freetrade as it's a secondary market.

The initial jump doesn't surprise me, it's attracted huge attention. Question is how long can the price be sustained? Glad to see some of you have made some immediate gains

It didn’t ask everyone to agree. It trusted audiences to understand the joke.
Admit it, after all this time, it's still bloody funny!!
Nearly 50 years later and Life of Brian is still doing exactly what great comedy is supposed to do… making people laugh, argue and think. 😂
It’s hard to imagine many films creating the same kind of reaction today. It was fearless satire that poked fun at human behaviour, authority, politics and the strange things people do when they stop questioning the world around them.
For many fans, it represents an era when comedy was prepared to take risks, push boundaries and step into uncomfortable territory.
Love it or hate it, very few films are still being talked about decades later… and maybe that’s the biggest sign of just how brilliant it was.
Would Life of Brian get made today?

May be an image of text that says "Mike Thomas Watching Life of Brian again. Hard to imagine a studio green- lighting something that fearless today. Satire used to mock everyone equally and trusted audiences to get the joke. Now it feels like outrage culture would have it cancelled before it even reached cinemas."

    I don't think it would.

I have no idea but it was banned around the world back when it was made.

There are comedians on the circuit who are as 'bad' at anything we've previously seen in terms of being on the edge. The difference now is simply that outright racism isn't accepted in a comedy club.

I'm not sure there's anything in life of Brian that you couldn't say now, but then I'm not minded to think that we're magically banned from saying things.

Tbh I much prefer holy grail
