Hi all. Im writing a book for Pitch Publishing on the Rumbelows League Cup era (1990–92) and one of the most unique features was the Rumbelows Sprint Challenge — where players from every club raced for the title of fastest footballer in the league. But I could do with some help. I’ve managed to nail down almost all of the 93 entrants, but I’m missing the player who represented Leicester City. They ran in the Central East heats on Thursday November 14th 1991 at Molineux. Unfortunately there’s no Saint & Greavsie archive footage of the heat they were in. Ive heard a story from one fan who said it was meant to be Paul Kitson, but he got stuck in traffic on the way through to Wolverhampton, and missed the races, therefore nobody actually represented Leicester - just got no further proof that this was the case. If anyone remembers who ran for The Foxes, or has a programme/newspaper cutting from late ‘91 that mentions it, I’d love to hear from you.
