  1. The perfect day really, from the tifo to the performance on the pitch, and the atmosphere in the stands!
  2. Can't wait! The Greatest Escape was a cracking read and I'll certainly be looking to get hold of a copy of this!
  3. If I hear the word 'nervous' mentioned one more time... Everyone's a bit on edge, but some people still manage to sing so why can't others? Channel that energy into something productive like lifting the team. By and large the atmospheres we've created at home games this season have been great. With us on the brink of history, it would be a travesty (not to mention bizarre and somewhat embarrassing) if we let that slip off now. Things are surely going to get tight over the final few games, so we need to do our bit to will the lads over the line.
  4. Definitely need to be on our A game tonight! Contrary to popular belief (on here), it is actually possible to be nervous and sing at the same time, so let's not fall back on that as an excuse. Get behind the lads!
  5. More of these have been ordered too
  6. It's a supporters group. More info here
  7. Just renewed my ST. Looking forward to next year.
  8. Still pissed off about the result, but I'll get over it. Otherwise, yesterday was a great success all round. Cheers to everyone who came to the meeting as well. Was really productive & also good to see a couple of new faces.
  9. Loving the flag Steve! Yeah it's been a great year. Every match-day has felt like an occasion. Not just the game, but the whole day. Even if it were to fall on it's arse tomorrow, on a personal note, it's been well worth it for the people I've met & got to know better. Been a good laugh & hope the whole thing continues to grow, more people get involved & make the experience bigger & better.
  10. Everyone's welcome mate. Doesn't matter where you're from.
  11. As AndWhat? said, if you're at the game on Saturday, you can buy stickers then. It's £3 for a pack of 50 stickers, which includes 10 of each of the 5 designs shown below. Note, the Union FS ones aren't included in that.
  12. Fair play! I'm impressed by the time you're devoting to this WUMery! Out of interest, any mods care to share with us why this bloke's posts are being deleted & his accounts suspended (if you're able/allowed to)? Bloke's got a right to his opinion even if no-one else agrees with it. Has he broken forum rules?
  13. Great effort yesterday, thought the atmosphere was good up there! Always helps when we're winning/playing well but there seemed to be more people getting involved than usual. Thought the drum definitely added to the atmosphere, rather than compromising it. It noticeably helped keep chants such as 'Ring of Fire' at the right pace, so they could go on for longer. Keen to see it stay if we can continue to use it in the right way.
  14. Agree with Loyalist to some extent about 'When you're tired & weary' & other songs of that ilk. Don't get me wrong, I like the old songs & think it's important not to forget about them but I do cringe a bit myself when I'm standing there singing 'you'll get your ****ing heads kicked in...' when I've got no intention of scrapping with anyone whatsoever. Same on the (rarer) occasions when songs like 'We don't carry razors' get going. When those songs first came about, they carried some real meaning to the blokes singing them. In today's completely different climate, it seems a bit tinpot to be trotting out songs about things that most of us have never experienced. On a different note, shame this thread has to descend into an L block vs SK1 slanging match after every game these days. Don't know how many times the point has to be made that it doesn't help anyone achieve anything!
  15. Think despite the couple of arguments, there are a lot of positives to take out of yesterday, both on and off the pitch. Thought atmosphere-wise it was good up in SK1. Wouldn't say we were on absolute top form but there were a number of occasions where songs spread pretty well across the Kop and there weren't too many quiet periods. The banner also went down pretty well in the main. Obviously, not everyone will agree about the manager but, with the ethos of the group being to get behind the players and manager at all times, I think it's important to make our support clear, especially in tough times. Re Soup Nazi thinking of jacking it in, don't do it mate! Top bloke and we need people with your passion up there to drive this forward. It is frustrating sometimes when people around us don't want to get involved but, as I was saying to one lad yesterday, if you think back to last year, it's much better up in SK1 now. Sure, it's not as good as we want it to be but I'm confident we're moving in the right direction. Can't speak for anyone else but I've never enjoyed home games so much. Every game's an occasion now. Good laugh in the pub beforehand and it's great to know that you can enjoy the game in the company of like-minded people who want to be vocal. Don't think the arguments yesterday should be blown out of proportion but some good points have been made on here about making SK1 more united. As Dan LCFC said (I think?), Union is in the name and yet it does feel a bit divided at times. Everyone in and around the group should be able to get their views across, whether good or bad. If anyone's got suggestions on how things could be done better or ideas for displays etc, get in touch by email or meet us in the pub pre/post-match for a chat. Finally, the 'all going West Ham...' & 'loyal supporters' chants - just a personal opinion but don't think this stuff helps anyone really. Believe me, I'd love to be going to West Ham, had bought my ticket & everything. Shaping up to be one of the best aways of the season, but circumstances change & I can't make it anymore. People can sing what they like but that sort of stuff isn't going to get more people on board and will only lead to accusations of the group being elitist and thinking we're better than other fans...
  16. Think you're bang on there tbh. Yeah thinking about it I remember Swansea singing this. Remember thinking it sounded decent but I never cottoned on yesterday. That'll be where our fans got it from then...
  17. That's a shame. It caught on pretty quickly and is easy to learn. Who else sings it Dan? In my opinion it's more when the rest of the crowd join in that the songs become too fast & die out. Most of them start off at a sensible pace but the more people that join in, the faster they seem to get, to the point where the chant's not sustainable anymore & dies off while everyone catches their breath. Ring of fire being the prime example. It's definitely a problem but I'm really not sure how you stop it from happening.
  18. Thought it was ok up in SK1 today. Not our worst day but definitely not our best! Strongest spell was start of the second half for me.
  19. Cheers. Appreciated
  20. All for the FCC, think it's a good start in terms of at least giving supporters a chance to engage with the Club. However, minutes of a meeting appearing over 4 months after the meeting actually happened is completely unacceptable. Even now, the Club themselves still haven't posted the minutes as far as I'm aware. It's lucky that we have the Foxes_Trust, Leicester Lass etc who keep us up to date on here otherwise those fans who weren't in the meeting (the overwhelming majority) would never actually find out what was discussed. Apologies if I've missed something here but how can it possibly take that long for the Club to publish the minutes? Am I right in thinking that the Foxes Trust has a permanent place on the FCC? If so, would this coming year's representative be kind enough to raise this point with the Club for me? It really does undermine the whole reason for having these meetings and 'building the relationship' between the fans and the Club if no-one ever bothers telling us what's been said!
  21. I'll be at Swansea
  22. Haha yeah I was speaking to your Dad briefly next to the bar just before we left the pub. I was the lad in the navy Fred Perry jacket. Think you came over & stood on our row in the second half?
  23. Would love it if my Return key worked...
  24. Some interesting points here. Firstly, re the pre-match plans, a bit of an anti-climax & the group are culpable for that. It was great in the pub. Good chat, good atmosphere & nice to meet a few more people. The walk to the ground & singing in the stands kind of ended up being people making their way to the ground in dribs & drabs (albeit slightly earlier), getting the flag ups up, clapping the lads when they came out to warm up, then pile downstairs to get back on the beer til kick off. Nothing wrong with that but if the group advertise plans pre-match we should probably make more of an effort to stick to them, mainly because of the others who come down & get involved based on those plans & secondly because people start to lose a bit of faith if you're forever making plans but can't stick to them. Re the 'fizzling out' point. I can understand how you feel. Think more of an effort has to be made to keep up the momentum & not let this become a flash in the pan type scenario. It's easy to make an impact when you start something like this up but it's a lot harder to build on that & turn it into something that's got the legs to work long term. Don't agree with the 'dogs bollox' point. I can see how it might appear that way from the outside but believe me, you get to know the lads personally & they're quite a self-deprecating & open-minded bunch. Think the problem is the group seems a bit cliquey at the moment. That's another reason why it was good to meet a few more people in the pub pre-match yesterday but it's got to continue that way otherwise there is definitely a danger of a Fosse Boys II situation. Comments about the Drinkwater chant are fair enough. It definitely divides opinion & a bit more care probably needs to be taken to judge how these type of chants are going down with other people. If it doesn't take off, maybe time to bin it off? Can't pretend to understand the 'shit song' mentality though. Surely just sing something else to drown it out? Don't agree about LSF. Think that's got great potential & sounds good myself but that's just my opinion. Clear to see not everyone's a fan. Re 'Iwan is a Welshman', this is probably the most frustrating issue for me. People harp on about wanting to hear more traditional songs but sing them & you get it in the neck for the songs being too niche & not enough people knowing the words. Can't win. I'm 25 & sometimes it feels a bit odd singing old school songs like 'Hark now hear', 'Tiptoe through the Trent End' or 'We don't carry razors' etc because I wasn't around in the 70s & 80s but I like to join in because it's a nod to our history. Not knowing the words isn't really an excuse this day & age though. One quick look down the threads on Foxestalk or Bentley's Roof and you can find out the words to any song. I've lost track of the amount of times links to the Songbook on Filbo Spirit have been posted on here... Songs for Nige do get started but seem to fizzle out pretty quickly. Couldn't tell you why. Not sure what else the bloke has to do to get a bit of recognition. Pretty frustrating. Also got to bear in mind that the majority of songs don't actually get started by UFS. It's easy just to blame the group for anything shit that gets sung in SK1 because they're conspicuous but it's pretty lazy. Half the songs that get going are joining in with people behind/to the sides/further across the Kop. There are plenty of vocal fans in the block who aren't part of the group. Agree about the slow hand clap point. That's a modern phenomenon that seems to have sprung up this year. Good for keeping the pace of the songs from time to time but just as often it's unnecessary & can kill chants off. A bit of perspective as well. Yesterday's atmosphere was shit compared to United/Arsenal/Everton but it was still better than the majority of home games I've been to in the last 10 years since we moved grounds. I know personally I sang just as much yesterday as I did when we were putting 5 past United. Not much you can do if the majority aren't up for it. Any game where we're not underdogs will probably be similar but you keep going.
