    Great output in the Prem and not many wingers matching his numbers, so should fetch a hefty fee. He does go missing at times and is incapable/unwilling to take his man on down the line, but is brilliant at finding space after a give and go.

     

    If Whelan can negotiate £60-70m for him to fund a rebuild then would wave him off and wouldn’t be too upset.

    … But it’s time to go.

     

    Some perspective is required and we should have the decency to pay him some respect as one of our most successful managers ever.

     

    He managed us to our first ever FA Cup. He took a mid-table team to the cusp of the Champions League, and took us to the semi finals of a European competition where the club had never been before. He had us playing some of the best football I’ve seen where we managed games like I’ve not seen before, pressed and attacked in numbers, and won big games I dreamt of as a kid - beating Arsenal multiple times (we always always lost, especially away), Man Utd in the cup run, and Chelsea in the cup final. And let’s not forget a record 9-0 victory at Southampton.

     

    He has a squad of very good players who have played some decent football this season. For 60 minutes against Brentford it was a walk in the park. Against Southampton it was similar where we dominated the game for large parts. Against Tottenham we the better team for 45 minutes. But his decision making and responding to opponents tactical tweaks has been woeful, with him showing an inability to adapt to the situation unfolding on the pitch.

     

    I can appreciate that he didn’t get what he wanted in the summer window, but the club has to operate within it’s means for the long term. We still have quality players in the squad, who collectively should be nowhere near bottom of this league.

     

    However, it’s clear that a rot has set in, with a disorganised defensive structure, and a weak mentality where we are imploding every game. We all know that if we get a lead that we won’t be able to see the job through right now. And whilst Brendan is trying tweaks here and there, it is clear that he doesn’t know his best team, that he doesn’t have a plan B, and that the players heads drop too easily because confidence has gone.

     

    Brendan should be celebrated for what he has achieved with the club, but that his time is up and that we need fresh ideas. I hope that as a club we can respect what the man has given us over the past few years, whilst also recognising that his time is up, and at the same time that the media spin about him not being backed can be put to bed - he has clearly lost the dressing room and his decision making leave a lot to be desired. At this level that means the end.

     

    I wish him well, but there is a fantastic squad waiting for someone with new ideas and enthusiasm to steer us to safety with fast, direct football, and build a squad next summer to challenge for Europe again next season. There is no better time for a new man to start than now with an international break to reorganise and regroup, and with a fixture against local rivals where we chop some trees and climb the table.

     

    Thank you Brendan, but it’s time for a new manager to lead us forward.

    Spurs might have done us a favour today by shelling £25m on Bissouma who only had a year left on his contract. Gives our negotiation team a floor price, plus expectation for more considering he’s won trophies and will be on higher contract terms. Don’t get me wrong as I rate Bissouma as a very decent player, but as a comparison, you’d like to think Youri is worth more in the market.

    Also I don't think we can just write off the effect of his disasterous form since January or so. Frankly I don't think he deserved his place in the team towards the end. 

    An injury-prone 28-year old Danny Ings went for £30m last summer. A 25-year old Tielemans won’t go for less.

    Our defensive record was actually phenomenal. It was the 2nd best in the league. We had a better defensive record than both West Brom and Stoke and they got promoted automatically. Stearman and McAuley proved they were good players as they ended up in the Premier League soon after.

    We just couldn't score for shit. Iain Hume was our only goal threat and we had zero creativity in midfield, just a bunch of cloggers and donkeys who ran around.

    We went down with a goal difference of -3.

     

    The glory days of five right backs and five strikers on the pitch. Matty Fryatt as the holding midfielder trying to feed Carl Cort and DJ Campbell...

    I've just read that Vine letter too... and as great as it is to see, I have one reservation in that I saw the effect truly believing "it's gonna be our year" had on Liverpool's performances during that infamous season.

    True, we don't have a clown like Brendon in charge and our players may be stronger mentally given they none of them have been around the England international scene long enough to get the bottlers disease, but as soon as the wider public started believing that filtered into the players heads and they tightened up physically and mentally.

    So part of me would prefer most people to not believe, still predict the worst for us, after all historically proving people wrong is what our team is best at.

    Difference (potentially) being we don't have the so called "Big Time Charlie's. We have players with an insatiable will to strive for better things because they've been written off.

    As someone alluded to, Reg has put the effort in to get better, to adapt to the Prem, to work on finishing and use the attributes every football forum poster has wished for in abundance (often described as "raw pace", "work on end product" and "if he could finish...") to become a near complete striker.

    The same can be said for Drinky, Albrighton and numerous others.

    I totally agree we CAN win the league because of the sheer will of our castoffs and players who were written off. The only thing that will stop them is them not believing it, and I honestly cannot see that being a problem with this team and the mentality they (appear) to have.

    Might just be the beer talking though...!

    Leicester tracking Hoffenheim pair

     

    Leicester City are active in the German transfer market.

    After the success of Shinji Okazaki, signed from Mainz, the Foxes posted scouts last week to see Mainz against Hoffenheim, plus VfB Stuttgart against Schalke.

    Fussball-transfers.com says Leicester were checking on Hoffenheim pair Sebastian Rudy and Kevin Volland.

    Volland has also been linked with Liverpool and Tottenham this past season.

    Also in the Foxes' sights was Schalke keeper Ralf Fährmann.
