We don't need overpriced squad depth in positions we've already got too many players.  We need starters.  Improvements.

But if Winks gets injured and Ndidi is still out. I'd hate a run in the side for Skipp... we look so passive and weak in midfield with him there. KDH would be way better = Improvement, I'd be happy with him returning on loan.

Skipp IMO has been a huge mistake, he's Andy King Mk2 (No disrespect Kingy), steady, but not quite good enough for the Premier league.

Agree other areas are a priority.

  2. KDH is better than Skipp. With the injuries we've had KDH would be welcome squad depth. Always puts in a shift. Would track better than Soumare too.

But defense is in need of new blood way more than our midfield ATM. RB and CB are an absolute must, or we are toast.

  3. Yeah, we get an occasional glimpse of a player every 15 games or so... but on the whole, has never really shown enough consistent ability to play in this team. No footballing brain whatsoever. Add to that all the off field antics and It's staggering he's a regular starter and captain . Why is it only the fans can see this though?

Hughton is Ghana's new head coach, so I've just read and as the other poster said too. Wouldn't have really wanted him anyway, even if available - very much another managerial-merry-go-round participant who flatters to deceive in this country, even though his did well at Brighton before the Potter era. Talking of which, Potter would be my first choice now too if Smith wasn't offered the gig. The fact that Smith and Shakey haven't already been offered to stay on here for next season makes you think they might not be offered it but I suppose there's a lot for Top to weigh up going forward, logitically, financially, etc. now that we're in the Championship.

I also didn't realise he'd just taken that job... but he built a good team with Brighton and got them promoted. Would prefer him over 80% of names mentioned so far.

There's an awful lot to process and navigate. Yes we want someone in the prepare asap, but this isnt something we should rush IMO.

Problem with Potter is that he could be interested/the right choice - but won't he want to want to wait it out and see what PL opportunities appear during the season?

We need a manager in post in the next week or so! The season kicks off in 60 days and we've got to have about 30 total ingoing and outgoings!

And if he does that, then he doesnt want it enough for me. I want someone in that doesnt want to jump ship at the earliest possible sniff of a bigger club.

Difficult I know in this day and age...

  6. First choice for me is definitely Potter, he has experience of winning things and gaining promotion (albeit in a different league/country). I feel he'd be a good fit.

Failing that Id love Pearson Back, but not sure he would come. He knows how to build a squad of hungry players.

3rd choice Id stick with Smith... definitely over the likes of Gerard, Marsch, Lampard.

Rafa doesn't excite me at all.

Whats Chris Hughton doing these days?

The cameras were covering Top's reaction to a couple of the goals. He appeared enthused.

We were all enthused but that shouldn't close our eyes to the fundamental issue that one player is providing the impetus to establish a toehold in each game that comes along - although several others complemented his work.

Overall confidence is still paper thin and I suspect that the next few games will test how resilient we are to bigger challenges than Forest. They had two v.good chances go begging. Had we not established a strong lead early on then we might have been back in the mire this morning.

Rodgers has had his temporary stay of execution. My fear is that Top lacks the clarity of vision and decisiveness to dismiss him if it becomes obvious that this result is a one off. His subs last night were not made chasing the game or trying to break a deadlock.

However, there is still the matter of the team retaining its pivotal players. Should Maddison go then its difficult to envisage the individuals who can take control of a game in his place.

Top looked pleased...Rudkin on the other hand had a face like a smacked arse, looked like he was disappointed with the goals/win which ultimately keeps Rodgers in a job for longer!

*all speculation of course, but that's how it looked!

Just watched the highlights on MOTD and Christ! We are awful…

Relegation side written all the way through it. Positioning terrible. The amount of space they had running through was amazing! And arguing with each other.

    What….. a……. fookin….. mess

Yep and fully agree with MOTD2 singling out Ward & Ndidi... not many came out of that game with credit, but those two were particularly bad.

Youri is an exceptionally professional, honest guy. He's done absolutely nothing to warrant accusations he doesn't care or isn't trying. They're just boring, generic, cliché comments thrown about by people who's whole relationship with football seems to be parroting crap off social media.

The guy has unquestionably been in worse form this year than last, not denying that. But there's myriad reasons that could likely be, not least the fact he's got to be ridiculously fatigued by now.

I get so bored of players leaving always being a huge drama. He's not done anything inappropriate, he signed a contract and he's honoured it and now we want to sell him whilst he's got a year left so we don't lose him for free.

What's wrong with any of that? He's not messed anyone around or done anything unethical.

Stop speaking sense, we're not used to that here!
