bignosher Posted 27 January 2006 Share Posted 27 January 2006 The bizarre prospect of Neil Lennon suddenly uprooting himself from Celtic to become player-manager of Leicester City is not going to happen, despite much excitement on the subject yesterday on both sides of the border.Leicester, looking for a new manager after sacking Craig Levein on Wednesday, have quoted Lennon among their initial list of possible candidates, of which there are at least 10 names. It is an open secret that the great esteem in which Lennon is held by Leicester's supporters has endured through his five years in Glasgow. While he admitting to feeling attracted to the job, Lennon let it be known yesterday that it is not going to happen. Moreover, Celtic have just offered Lennon a new one-year contract for season 2006-07. "Neil loves Leicester and wants to go into management at some stage but, first and foremost, he wants to win the championship again with Celtic, so he won't be going anywhere in the immediate future," said Martin Reilly, the player's agent in Glasgow. Leicester have already made it clear that any move for Lennon would be premature, as they weigh up their options following the departure of Levein. "Neil is a hero down here and all things will be considered, but the search is at an early stage," said Tim Davies, the club's chief executive. source

Depends how you read it i suppose?
Bilko Posted 27 January 2006 Share Posted 27 January 2006 Bringing in a guy with no managerial experience with us sitting where we are now would be madness. Lennon is a true City hero but just because he was a great player does not mean he will be a great Manager. We need someone who can make an instant impact as we need to start winning games now. This is not a task for the likes of ex-players who haven't managed a Sunday league team, however we feel about them.
