Parsons Posted 10 April 2006 Posted 10 April 2006 for some strange reason my usb ports are no longer responding? meaning i can not get my printer to work nor scanner. it says when i try to re-install my printer that their are to things missing... usb hardware and usb drivers i have googled loads and just can not find anything to download or any information on how to fix this. anyone know what to do?

Do you still have a Universal Serial Bus Controllers category in device manager - If so delete all items in this category - then reboot and let plug n play find and reinstall the USB controller(s) for you If the category is missing completely then the issue is more serious and could potentially be a hardware failure - Are you using a desktop or notebook? - USB ports tend to be easier to damage on notebooks - Have any of the USB ports been 'pulled' recently? - IE: someone tripping over a USB cable causing the USB connector to 'pull on' the USB port
Parsons Posted 11 April 2006 Author Posted 11 April 2006 ahh its solved now. Some strange reason a setting in BIOS changed. i just loaded up optimal settings and now it works fine thanks for your help anyway
