Chandler Posted 1 November 2006 Share Posted 1 November 2006 Older poster may remember when Rupert Murdoch, through B Sky B attempted to buy Manchester United Football Club with a straight cash bid. Politically correct thicko's led by a certain Andy Walsh led a campaign to derail the bid. One very stupid local councillor jumped on the bandwagon. In front of the TV cameras he raged that he didn't want to see MUFC taken over by the likes of Rupert Murdoch - he wanted to see Manchester United owned by er Manchester United (yes, the ****wit actually said the last bit).' It had never occurred to this professional busybody that MUFC might actually be already owned by people who did not have names like er 'Manchester' and 'United.' It had never dawned on this imbecile that the much vaunted Manchester United shareholders aka 'The Edwards Family' were the actual owners of this shitheap by virtue of this scrip... And so it seems a similar kind of ignorance is brewing with LCFC and MM. This is largely the fault of Jon Barber and his piss blog and the Leicester Mercury. So, before I give ANY inside info on the deal lets get one thing STRAIGHT - a takeover is a transfer of ownership from A(s) TO B(s). This normally involves the purchase of a majority or even all the shares held by A(s) by B(s). And that's it because that's all there is to any football club - shares (and that's all there is to any business). Takeovers are not about clearing debts, buying back stadia and paying off management. All that can (and will) happen later. It's important you understand the basics now or you will not grasp what I have to tell you later.
