A little mention for the N block

This gives us something to sing about!

By Karam Radwan

Our slow-motion takeover has fast forwarded and looks to be finally over with the announcement of Milan Mandaric's successful bid.

Breathe a collective sigh of relief. As City fans, we've endured some sagas over the past few years, but this one has been the most prolonged and has become the most agonising.

The "is-it-on, is-it-off?" takeover seemed at first too good to be true and then, frighteningly, our only way forward.

The latest development comes just two days after the Foxes Trust announced they would support the Mandaric bid - good job too!

This long-awaited news followed a superb victory at Ipswich - the first for 19 years - making this a week to be forever mentioned in City history books.

Our well-fought win cannot have done Robert Kelly's job prospects any harm, with his new recruits playing a large part in the final result. And, with the news that Iain Dowie is thought to be on the verge of taking over at neighbours Coventry, Kelly must be feeling a lot happier.

Finally, this could also be good news for Saturday's new singing block. The singing section in N Block is to be trialled against Coventry.

Tickets for this section are available until Friday evening, with season-ticket holders able to move seats if they wish to.

It conjures up images of three ticket-sales people sat behind the glass partition with their arms folded, waiting to hear auditions in the style of the X Factor, with anyone wanting to sit there having to give a rendition of Kop classics such as "He's here, he's there, he's every where" or "When you're smiling".

All credit to the club for listening to the fans who put forward this proposal.

However, the lack of spontaneity about the enterprise, and the feeling that it's been organised in the same way a sing-song would be at a holiday camp is going to make it a turn-off for a lot of folk. Having said that, I will stop cringeing if it improves the atmosphere.

Skip forward to Saturday afternoon. Drum-roll please. Altogether now - "There's only one Milan Mandaric..."

Jeez, some people can`t help but get a little dig into the ribs can they?
