JoeyB Posted 19 March 2008 Posted 19 March 2008 Leicestershire Police say hope is fading for a woman whose car plunged into a river.Officers were called to the River Soar in Kegworth on Tuesday afternoon after witnesses reported seeing a car being driven into the water. The Ford Fiesta, which has not been recovered, was submerged and had apparently drifted some distance from where it entered. Specialist divers were called in to help with the "hazardous" search. Swollen river Inspector Ian Bayliss said: "This is a tragic incident. Clearly hopes of finding the woman alive have faded and this is now a recovery operation. "Our thoughts are with the woman's family at this time." He said the river was "incredibly fast flowing and swollen from the recent rain". Police are not treating the incident as suspicious. Anyone who may have seen the car go into the water is urged to contact police. Link Other end of the village to me
