Guide to the King Power Stadium

Recommended Posts

  • Introductory Post

This is a guide to the King Power, how to get there, where to drink, and for those who want to, where to stay. The aim is to help, not just Foxiles, but awayers too.

This is an ongoing project, and it would be difficult to include every single place of interest at the first attempt. The aim is to keep this updated, and if anyone has any suggestions, then please pm either myself or Bert with details/links, to update any of the topics in this thread.

Many thanks,

Lisa

Fox Travel - Home Games

For home fans, there is the Fox Travel service. Can only be bought as a season ticket, and the routes/destinations are pretty limited, however.

By Car

From the OS

By Road

From North & South (from the M1/M69 Motorways): The M1 and M69 Motorways interchange at Junction 21 (M1), where you should exit and follow the signs for the City Centre via the A5460. After 3 miles turn right onto Upperton Road, go over the bridge and take the first right down Western Boulevard and you will see the King Power Stadium ground on your right-hand side.

Street parking is restricted to residents only in the immediate vicinity.

Some fans park on Freeman's Common for £5

The closest NCP is NCP Welford Road - next to the Tigers

From the OS 12/02/09

Football fans attending matches at the King Power Stadium will now be able to take advantage of extra matchday car parking spaces.

Supporters will be able to park up at the Saffron Lane Sports Ground car park, which is just a five minute walk from the stadium, for just £3.50.

There will be 300 spaces available on a first come, first served basis.

Doors open two hours before kick-off.

Park and Ride Services

The city centre is served by three council operated Park and Ride services, operating from different locations to the north/west/south-west of the city. Unfortunately, the service is only of use for Saturday afternoon games, as the last buses leave at about 7.00pm. If you don't want to walk all the way from the city centre, then the service that operates from Enderby stops near the the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Information, including times and prices, can be found here.
