Tilley Posted 18 November 2008 Posted 18 November 2008 The Race of Champions - including the 'man against the machine' race between Lewis Hamilton and Chris Hoy - will be shown live and in high definition on Sky Sports. Sky Sports will bring you all of the action from Wembley Stadium from 1.30pm on Sunday December 14 as some of the biggest names in racing go head to head to determine the 'Champion of Champions'. The highlight is likely to be the unique showdown between Britain's two most successful racers this year; the youngest ever F1 World Champion, Lewis Hamilton, against triple Beijing Olympic Gold medallist, Chris Hoy. Hamilton will take to the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz in the face-off against Hoy, on a bike, in a race run on a parallel track constructed inside the stadium. Hamilton, who will also perform a demonstration run in his title-winning McLaren-Mercedes MP4-23 car, said: "This is going to be something very special. I've done F1 demonstration runs away from race tracks before, but Wembley Stadium is completely different, the atmosphere is going to be crazy." Hoy, who won gold medals for Great Britain in the keirin, sprint and team sprint in Beijing, added: "I can kick out about two and a half brake horsepower so that's not going to quite match his car but I think they'll make the race as close as possible and I'll be giving it absolutely everything; I'm really looking forward to it." The race will form part of the build-up to the annual event, which pits some of the world's leading motorsport stars against each other. Created in 1998, the Race of Champions features a multitude of racers from various formats, racing one another in identical cars on a parallel track. Confirmed drivers this year include Michael Schumacher, Jenson Button, Andy Priaulx and David Coulthard. Race of Champions.
dandannieldanok Posted 19 November 2008 Posted 19 November 2008 Went to it last year, was quite good but slightly repetitive in format. Plus it was freezing cold.
Brainy Posted 22 November 2008 Posted 22 November 2008 This was pretty decent last year, it'd be great to see Schumacher v Hamilton!!
