SOCCERROO FOX Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 Single Perth women are being urged to follow cricket-mad bachelors down to the WACA in order to snag a bloke.This Thursday, January 15, the WACA has reserved 500 seats for singles to attend the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash game between the Warriors and Queensland Bulls. The highlight will be a speed dating extravaganza in the WACA stands. In an innovative twist, when a six is hit or wicket taken on the field, guys participating in the off-field speed dating will move along to the next seat in the stands and to their next date. The brains behind the hit and run affair, Get Hitched Director Sean Grobbelaar, said single women needed to wise up and get to where the blokes were. "There may be a man drought in Perth, but there are still hundreds of fantastic and available men out there - women just have to look in the right places," he said. "And girls needn't be avid sports fans to attend the Twenty20 Singles Party - this event is for singles who have one thing in common: they're all passionate about having fun and meeting like-minded people." Warriors off-spinner and eligible bachelor Aaron Heal agreed. "The Twenty20 Singles Party is an ideal place for all eligible singles in Perth to have some fun and perhaps find that special someone," he said. "However, I hope my mates don't decide to roll up as the women (in the stands) would be better of going to the zoo instead. "Seriously though, we will doing our best to take plenty of Queensland wickets and hit heaps of sixes so that everyone taking part has the chance to meet as many people as possible." The match is scheduled to start at 6.15pm, with the Western Fury playing a Twenty20 curtain-raiser against the Queensland Fire, beginning at 2.45pm. Tickets to the Twenty20 Cricket Singles Party are going for $35 through Ticketmaster at 1300 136 122.
