FoxySmithy123 Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Welcome to the first of my full review's. In here I shall explain every little detail about the match on this chilly Saturday afternoon, Walkers Stadium match. Enjoy. City Starting Line Up: Weale Naughton. Davis. Hobbs. Cunningham. Gallagher. Wellens. King. Abe. Howard. © Vassell. So firstly, a 4-3-3 formation for the blue boys with the in-form Gallagher and King starting. This rememberance day fixture started with a boom as the match ball was flown in by a helicpoter and a minutes silence. Unfortunately, confusion between the last post and the minutes silence was ruined by Derby fans near the family stand. Despite that, an excellent crowd of 25,930 atmosphere quitened the derby fans. City grasped the game very early in. Several chances they produced and Darius Vassell found the net but was disallowed from an offside decision. And King then broke the deadlock after 13 minutes from a brilliant pick - out pass from Richie Wellens and a cool finish sent the city fans onto their feet and the derby fans deep into their seats. Although it didn't all go City's way. After 25 minutes, City let Derby come back into the game. Derby had some good passes in and around the field, but City's defense would not give in and kept clearing their lines. For the rest of the half it was Derby who controlled the game. Alot of possession and a couple of shots that had to be saved by Chris Weale, but Derby could not get their first goal. Towards the end of the first half, King could of added a second for him and city as Wellens again produced a cheeky pass to Cunningham and a quick-ground-cross left king to finish but tripped moments before he would of made contact with the ball and there on left the keeper to dive on it and clear. When the half time whistle blew, the usual raffle draw was called and then a marching band and flag banners paraded the Walkers Stadium. When the second half began, Derby came at Leicester again. A good move and a shot left the Derby fans thinking it was a goal but really it just had gone wide and bounced off the back of the net which gave the Leicester fans a sigh of relief and a few cheers here and there. City then started to show their class again and a great over-lapping move from Naughton and was fouled in the box in the 70th minute for the referee to blow his whistle and point to the penalty spot. Steve Howard stepped up and carefully drilled the ball into the left corner which sent the walkers stadium alight and broke the derby hearts as Howard scored against his former club. After that, City tormented the Derby fans as they slowly left the walkers stadium in their hundreds. Substitutions in the second half saw Darius Vassell see a standing ovation off for speedy Lloyd Dyer and late on in the match saw the big man Howard come off for Waghorn. When the full-time whistle blew the fans cheered in their thousands as they were relieved that their side had overcome the dissapointing 2-2 draw at The Walkers on wednesday night, especially to beat an in-form rival Derby side who are currently 4th in the league 2-0. An excellent fixture and result for City and will be referred to for months or maybe years to come. Well done to the blue boys, Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this review, This has been FoxySmithy123.
