The 'S' Factor

I have to express my disappointment with the scoreline today. I forecast us to win 4-1 but I now realise that it was rather stupid of me to think that Derby would actually score. We scored three but yet again, thanks to incompetent officials, we were only allowed to count two.

But that was not just a superb win today, it was also a public display of exactly how far we have progressed in the short time that SGE took over the reins, and gave clear notice to all the other teams that Leicester are back in business!

The players are beginning to gel into a team where the whole is a greater sum than a simple addition of the individual parts.

Fitness levels have improved beyond all recognition.

We are being treated to sustained exciting attacking play. Andy King gave us a clue as to what the current thinking is when interviewed yesterday on ‘Big League Weekend’ saying that Sven said the players were free to express themselves.

It certainly makes a change for us fans not to have to watch players playing out of their positions.

Amongst other things, the result represents our FOURTH clean sheet of the season – not the third as said twice on Radio Leicester – it seems some folk have forgotten that the opening game at the Walkers v Middlesbrough finished as a goalless bore, sorry I mean draw.

The 6-1 drubbing at Fratton Park is quickly becoming a distant bad dream.

We are now 15th equal with Barnsley (both goal difference is -6).

More importantly, we are only four points off the play-off places and in a tightly contested season, on recent form and the way we are now playing, we are heading into that top six sooner rather than later.

RL have made much fuss that last season, we headed into the new year with 37 points and in 4th place. With seven games left in 2010, we have a potential of 43 pts. with 24 games played.

We had five more corners today and the goal tally from them remains on nought!

And so to Bristol.......
