Clive Redman Posted 21 June 2011 Posted 21 June 2011 LCCC's opening batsman, Will Jefferson's exclusive blog for Soar Magazine... "We’ve got the balance of youth and experience but it’s just about finding the right combination and that winning formula. We’ve tried Paul Nixon at different spots in the order, for example. Matthew Boyce has had a couple of hundreds which is great to see. He’s been a little inconsistent so far but it’s hoped that he’s turned the corner now and can start scoring runs consistently. Josh Cobb is a prime example of someone that’s been in fantastic form in the Pro40 and the T20, at the top of the order, yet he’s found it difficult in the Championship games. "It’s a very difficult path as the two games are so extreme, the T20 and the Championship couldn’t be farer away from each other. Josh has been opening the batting in Pro40 and his game suits that. He’s been playing some very good shots and picking the right ball to hit but the Championship is so much more about the ability to knuckle down, be patient and occupy the crease." Clive Redman Posted 22 June 2011 Author Posted 22 June 2011 The next part of Will's latest blog... "It’s great for me to be able to work upwards with people like Paul Nixon and Phil Whitticase the coach, Matthew Hoggard and Claude Henderson, to hear their views on the game and their views on their arts. "I’ve also been working with guys like Josh Cobb and James Taylor, hitting balls with them. The word around James Taylor is that he’s very much on the verge of England recognition and potential selection in the one-day squad. So I jump at the chance to work with someone who is so highly regarded throughout the country. If he feels as though I can communicate with him and help him, I get a tremendous lift from that. "If James does get that call-up with England then it will give everybody at the club a lift. It’ll be a bit like the news of Abdul Razzaq signing and the way he’s come in and performed with both bat and ball. To have a young Leicestershire player, a player that has come through the academy system would be fantastic. We could see him on the TV batting in the middle order or covering for some of the batters in the England team, it will be part of his development and progression through the game, and we’ll be as excited as anybody about it."
