tomlester93 Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Not sure why people are worried/ frustrated about the Reading results: 2010-11: Coventry (A) D 1-1, Reading (H) L 2-1, Bristol City (H) W 2-1 2011-12: Coventry (A) W 1-0, Reading (H) L 2-0, Bristol City (H) ????? We're 2 points better off from the corresponding matches from last season, not to mention we have 1 win from 2 instead of 1 win from 9. Reading have been our bogey team at home for the last 3 or 4 years, and I class them as a top 12 club. As I see it, 24 wins from the bottom 12 teams gives us 72 points, so we would need only 20 from the top 12 to most probably win the league. OK, maybe 72 is unrealistic, but for now it should be the target, starting with Bristol City tonight!!! Btw, my bottom 12 clubs are: Barnsley, Brighton, Bristol City, Coventry, Crystal Palace, Derby, Doncaster, Hull, Leeds, Peterborough, Portsmouth and Watford. In truth it's hard to tell until maybe 10 games into the season, but so far I'd say we're on track, as long as we get 3 points tonight I'm happy!

You could just about justify some of the others One of the things this league has going for it is the fact that we have teams that can beat each other on most days. By making a bottom 12, and a top 12 youre only making things more confusing I think. Its easier to debate how many points we should get at home and away. I think
tomlester93 Posted 17 August 2011 Author Posted 17 August 2011 Well OK maybe it's not a bottom 12, how about a bottom 6 or 7: Barnsley, Bristol City, Coventry, Palace, Doncaster, Peterborough and Watford. Either way tonight falls in the category of 'must win' and as I say the teams we should be beating will be obvious a bit further into the season when the table truly reflects the league - Southampton and Derby at the top is a joke, even considering what Norwich did the year before (although I do rate Nigel Adkins)
vjbapu Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 I know where youre coming from with the 'must win' game. BUT, This is the sort of thing that makes us fans believe that we are sooo much better than others, the truth is we're not right now or at least until we prove otherwise. The way to do this is to judge how well we do over the next few months in comparison to them (and others). Then you can have any bottom sevens, top eights and that lark and start thinking of what games will be potential title winners. A few seasons ago Blackpool were shite we beat them 2-1 at home, and then they wouldve been a 'bottom seven' and they still got promoted.
tomlester93 Posted 17 August 2011 Author Posted 17 August 2011 OK, forget everything, let's just win!!!
