What A Difference A Day Makes

‘What a difference a day makes’ as the song goes.

The ‘Jonah’ callers on Monday’s Football Forum on RL, ‘inspired’ by the defeats at Bristol and Reading were having a field day. It was not just the end of the season, it was the end of Leicester City, it was the end of the world.....well, many wished it would be the end of Nigel Pearson, most of the players, especially Beckford, coupled with the imminent departure of the owners.

It was sad. It was heart-breaking. It was.........bloody boring!

Then next day, the team go and spoil it all by beating Brum 3 -1. The post-match calls were full of joy, praise, adulation, play-offs.....play-

offs?????? But I thought they said that....well, yes.

However, I don’t wish to be critical of these ‘fans’ for ‘I believe’ (that’s the ‘in’ words today!) that they have yet to fully appreciate what it is to be a ‘dedicated’ follower of Leicester City. They are by and large in their infancy with their support and as season follows season follows season, they will gradually learn and eventually be brainwashed into accepting a few basic premises about the Club that makes it such a fantastic Club for them to follow, with unswerving loyalty and total dedication:

  1. Leicester City Football Club is a total enigma.
  2. The only thing that is predictable concerning the team’s performance is its unpredictability.
  3. The only thing that is consistent is the team’s inconsistency.
  4. This unpredictable inconsistency has been, is now, and probably will be until the end of time, an indelible part of the Club’s appeal.
  5. No owner, no manager, no one player, not even Rupert Murdoch will be able to dispense or change this fact.
  6. The Club and its players will nearly always try to make it as difficult for themselves as they can.
  7. True fans will really ‘Keep the faith’.
  8. True Foxes will never quit.
  9. We will always be better than Forest, Derby, Coventry and every other team in the league.
  10. True fans will always love Leicester, Leicester, Leicester and so on.

So true fans believe that we will beat Chelsea, (but it might take a replay).

True fans believe that we will beat Liverpool in the Final.

True fans believe that we will reach the play-offs.......and might even do it this year!

True fans believe in miracles.

True fans readily accept that although other fans might live in the real world, they don’t really give a damn .
