Clive Redman Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 “I wanted to get involved to support the great work that Alan Birchenall has done raising money over the years. If ‘The Birch’ can do approaching 50 laps of the King Power pitch every year then I can do my bit as well. “I remember being in pen 4 of the Kop at Filbert Street as a youngster and climbing on top of the lawnmower box to get a good vantage point to watch The Birch run around the pitch. It’s amazing when you consider the amount of money he has raised for charity over the years and I want to do my bit now.” For the full interview see... http://www.soarmagazine.co.uk/2012/03/23/ian-stringer-marathon-man-part-one/
Clive Redman Posted 26 March 2012 Author Posted 26 March 2012 Part 2 of the Soar Magazine interview with Ian Stringer about his London Marathon challenge... “I’ve been a keen runner for much of my life. I took part in my first cross country-race at cubs when I was 10-years-old. I didn’t even know what cross-country was but I kept on going, through the wind, rain and mud, and ended up winning. I’ve always been good at long-distance running. I’m not so good at sprinting over short distances, as anybody who has played five-a-side football with me will testify!"
