Player Profile

The Scotsman made 13 league appearances for Fosse in just over three months following his switch from Lincoln City in December 1900. He split those appearances between playing outside-left and inside-right but, although his showings were competent, they didn't add much spark to the Foxes' attacking line.

Henderson, born in Dumfries, made his name with Scottish giants Celtic where he moved in 1895, spending a year-and-a-half with the Hoops but failing to nail down a regular starting role there. His limited performances were noted by Aberdeen club Victoria United before a move south of the border with Lincoln, and then City, followed.

His City debut came against Arsenal in December 1900 but just over three months later he found himself at Small Heath, helping their promotion bid in 1901. He only managed four games for them and moved back north of the border after that, via a spell with Carlisle United.

John, known as Jock, also had an older brother James who played football for Arsenal, then known as Woolwich Arsenal, in their inaugural Football League campaign.
