davieG Posted 10 March 2007 Posted 10 March 2007 When did the rule (written/unwritten?) that you should make a smooth uninterrupted run up when taking a penalty cease to exist. More and more penalties these days involve the penalty taker making some sort of feinting action. I've have strong memories of kicks being retaken because of this ungentlemanly conduct.

I remember Michael Owen doing it once at Filbo and we went mental at him.
Geo V Posted 10 March 2007 Posted 10 March 2007 i recall john aldridge being a master of that trick I think he started it didnt he? I prefer the Ray Stewart styke of peno taking when he played at West Ham. Run up and welly it and the GK hasnt a hope in hell as its hit too hard and fast for the GK to react!
