Premeiered in Cannes on Thursday. Reviews thus far have been good. Really looking forward to this film as Joy Division were a class act. Saw them supporting Buzzcocks at DMH in 1979. Ian Curtis was mesmeric. Watch the film when it gets released, I think you will enjoy it.

I think it was filmed in Nottingham but I'm not sure.

Regardless I really want to watch it, I feel regret for appearing in the world late - I missed so much.

Yes, it was. EM Media put a lot of the funding in, they're based in Nottm. They also funded This is England.

Don't let that put you off.

From what I've seen in the trailers, the film looks quality!

I got invited to the cast and crew screening of Control at The Broadway Cinema in Nottingham today. Stunning film. Sam Reilly as Ian Curtis is very believable. It is beautifully filmed with a phtographer's eye (as you'd expect from Anton Corbjin www.corbijn.co.uk. The music is good too and paints a pretty accurate picture of 1976-79, albeit slightly less frantic than I remember it. I must admit to having a tear in my eye at the end. Truly magnificent.

Still not sure when it's out in the UK, but for JD fans or fans of post-punk, it's a must.

It will be on at the Phoenix at some stage - but not until September at least as they're only showing kids' films during the school holidays. :(:@
