  1. Personally I'm finding this bloody hilarious, it's like they've thrown a cat amongst the pigeons.

Southampton were right to be booted out, no sympathy there.. only a marginal amount to the fans but personally I can't stand Southampton so bloody good.

As for Hull and Middlesbrough, there's absolutely no way this is going to end well.. If Hull win, M'Boro will cite lack of time to prepare for the game etc. If M'Boro win, Hull will cite last minute change of team in the final. Either way it's going to be an exciting summer of fallout from this.. and I'm here for the fireworks HAHAHAHA.

They could maybe have a case had it been say just Ipswich and Boro, as they could perhaps say oh we did it due to the size of the games.

But Oxford? If you're spying on Oxford, along with Eckert apparently thinking there was nothing wrong with doing it, it seems unlikey they've not been doing it when physically possible.

You raise a good point, the times they've admitted were times they didn't win games (with the exception of Boro as they couldn't exactly deny that)... so have they admitted to those games in a poor way of showing "well, we did spy but look... we didn't benefit from those games".

It is highly irregular a rookie coach turns the club around like he has, but it does beg the question have they been doing this ever since he took charge?

Decision needs to be upheld, club can compensate fans.. they cheated, the rules were clear, they can't deny knowledge of the rules or even question the activity whether it was morally right and it definitely couldn't have been a rogue analyst, people in that club would have been well aware of what was happening. Throw the book at them.

Isn't it reported Eckert's reasoning is this is allowed in Germany? If so it seems very hard to believe they only did it 3 times.

I'm of the belief they've probably been doing this ever since he took over.

Club statement: 20th May 2026 | Southampton FC Official Site

A statement from Phil Parsons, Chief Executive, Southampton Football Club.

We have appealed yesterday's decision by the Independent Disciplinary Commission to expel Southampton Football Club from the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs, and to impose a four-point deduction for the 2026/27 season. Before turning to that appeal, I want to address our supporters, our players, and the wider football community directly and without equivocation.

What happened was wrong. The club has admitted breaches of EFL Regulations 3.4 and 127. We are sorry to the other clubs involved, and most of all to the Southampton supporters whose extraordinary loyalty and support this season deserved better from the club.

We have provided our full co-operation to the EFL's investigation and disciplinary process. Following the appeal, we will also be writing to the EFL to volunteer our participation in a working group on the practical application and enforcement of Regulation 127 across the Championship. Contrition without change is hollow, and we intend to demonstrate change.

On the appeal itself: we accept that there should be a sanction. What we cannot accept is a sanction which bears no proportion to the offence. Whereas Leeds United was fined £200,000 for a similar offence, Southampton has been denied the opportunity to compete in a game worth more than £200 million and one which means so much to our staff, players and supporters.

We believe the financial consequence of yesterday's ruling makes it, by a very considerable distance, the largest penalty ever imposed on an English football club. Luton Town's 30-point deduction in 2008/09 — to date the most severe sporting sanction in the English game — was levied against a club already in League Two, with no comparable revenue at stake. Derby County's 21-point deduction in 2021 cost them their Championship status. Everton's eventual six-point deduction in 2023/24 followed losses of £124.5 million, a figure dwarfed by what has been taken from Southampton in a single afternoon. The largest financial penalty ever levied by the Premier League, against Chelsea in March of this year, was £10.75 million, and was accompanied by no sporting sanction whatsoever despite involving £47.5 million in undisclosed payments over seven years.

We say this not to minimise what occurred at this club, which we have accepted was wrong. We say it because proportionality is itself a principle of natural justice. The Commission was entitled to impose a sanction. It was not, we will argue, entitled to impose one that is manifestly disproportionate to every previous sanction in the history of the English game.

Our appeal will be heard today, and we will provide a further update in due course.

The argument that Leeds only received a £200k fine for this situation is a bit daft. The rules were changed because of what Leeds did, so for another club to knowingly do the same thing after those changes were introduced is arguably even worse.

I hope the appeals commission upholds the original decision. What message does it send if a team can spy on another club’s training sessions, gain a competitive advantage, potentially secure promotion, and earn hundreds of millions in TV revenue as a result?

Nothing to do with money/cost. You're missing the point.

It's about personal investment in the club you support, not financial investment. It's about still being passionate and proud to wear something with our name on it, (not Top's name). To be told it's wrong to be purchasing club merchandise is just wrong. In the process of purchasing, I'd rather it support the club financially than not, but as I say, it's not about money, it's about being criticised and frowned upon for wearing the club name and colours.

It’s not necessarily about wearing Leicester merch but right now we’re demanding some form of change from the board and people are protesting peacefully via their wallets. I have a kid too who I know would be asking for merch so I get your point and understand it but on the whole I wouldn’t even be buying food and drink from that ground until our “glorious” owner takes decisive action.

If instead you’re going into that club shop to by a shirt with Winks on the back, then you’re fully deserving of all the abuse 😂

Been going since the mid 1970s and so seen it all. Be careful what you wish for, we could go bust.just imagine losing millions on the back of this (a shit show) and being told to do one. It’s a sad time for us boys.

I’ve been going since the 90s (sorry I wasn’t born earlier), but this “be careful what you wish for” mentality I’m afraid you’re going to have to explain the positives of this club right now for me to think you’re talking absolute nonsense. Every facet of the footballing world understand our situation and recognise this is on the ownership but what could possibly be worse then being on the brink of going Pop, playing diabolical football and being in the lowest position we’ve ever been for the second time in our history.

Top is “being told to do one” because all of these issues stem from his running of the club, if he’s serious about rebuilding his relationship with the fans and turning things around then he had a quick win in sacking Rudkin - instead he promotes him… so what are the fans meant to think? All points to clueless decisions and extremely poor management on his behalf. Him losing millions is on him I’m afraid, it’s the least of my concerns when the club is on the brink of oblivion.

  6. I find it absolutely incredible that Rudkin hasn't stepped down of his own accord. I understand that he probably has a mortgage and realises he's unlikely to get another role like this again, but how thick skinned do you have to be to come into work every day knowing you're disliked to that extent by the fanbase, continually failing to meet your objectives, and STILL having the nerve to collect such a hefty wage?

If it were me, I'd have walked away by now. I genuinely don't understand the guy.

He was very good last night. He's still quite young.

Maybe he has just realised just what is needed to be a success and will be an Asset next season.

He took his Goal very well and nearly scored a second.

What game did you watch? He was absolutely diabolical in that first half!

He's had his chance, been poor for majority of the season.. it's time to go.

  8. I want to say I'm beyond caring but the reality is I'm so angry.

"It is what it is" is a term I've heard frequently but the thing that makes you chuckle is that it was totally avoidable and totally their fault lol

I wouldn't feel so bad about going to League One if I had confidence that this would be a factory reset and action started today, but the reality is that board will remain unchanged and thus our trajectory too will remain the same. Heads need to roll on this occasion for me to take Top seriously, but as that will not be the case, we'll just carry on with this poisonous cycle. I'm truly sick to death of the fact that I don't feel like I have a football club I can back anymore, they don't represent me and my values, not to mention do I feel like a valued fan - I'm just seen as a paying customer.

Wish I didn't care, but I do and I'm beyond frustrated.

  9. Sadly for any change to happen I fear the situation needs to turn ugly for them to wake up. Booing and banners don’t seem to be getting the message across, and realistically you aren’t going to get a boycott going considering half our fan base are a bunch of limp dicked submissive NPCs.

We should at the very least be going Just Stop Oil on them and peacefully but obstructively blocking players/staff from leaving the ground.

For me I think it has gone too far, and I expect the replacement would be from Manchester City.

Gives him a stay of execution, but Top still needs to go.

The culture is set from those at the top of the company, he clearly is setting the wrong one.

She actually looks reasonably fit. I know birds have a talent of selecting pics that aren't in any way representative, but nevertheless she looks OK.. Which the average KP nutter most certainly isn't.

  12. I don't think we're going to see the drastic overhaul of squad that people are anticipating. We can't just get rid of all the deadwood on the basis that rebuilding the squad will cost us a huge chunk of change (which knowing the club, we simply won't have). Not to mention, some of these players will be on contracts that they won't get offered elsewhere, so you have to try and force them out the door which our club doesn't have history for.

I find it incredible that we lose majority of the players we sign on a free, the recruitment aspect of this club is the absolute pits.

  13. I haven’t got a ticket, but may go down the ground to see players go in.. just to give Winks a load of stick. Detestable little p**** needs to just f*** off now, how he can accept a wage after the performances he’s been putting in for 2 seasons now is absolutely shameful!

3 weeks, 3 wasted games and one of our most damaging results in our history and absolutely no movement. No rumours, no links, nothing. Remarkable.

It's obvious now that they just want to keep King in post until the end of the season.

I won't turn on King... he's a coach, not a manager. This ownership is making him a patsy for their failures. I will give King my support, backing and patience as he has earnt that from the fans. If we go down under King then it's down to the lack of support they have afforded him.

However, it's time for Top and Rudkin to go... points deduction and the lack of movement on management just goes to show their sheer level of incompetence.

  15. Feel so lucky, we're flying out tonight to be there.

Been rooting for Lando all season, but I do love a bit of anarchy from time to time... there's that little part of me who wants to see Max do it and the McLaren meltdown that will ensue. Can you imagine his reaction if he loses it on the back of 2 blunders from the team.
