I’m sorry but I massively disagree with this. I think he is hugely talented - there a very few players with his ability to breeze past players and score from distance. He can also be excellent defensively, which means he’s got everything he needs to play at a very high level which I still think he will do.
I get that his performances really dropped off as the season went on, but I really can’t blame him. People forget he’s only 22 and he’s had absolutely no support whatsoever. He was never played in behind the defence and there’s little point in crossing the ball into the box with our strikers, so he really didn’t have many options other than to go alone. I think anyone in that position would let their head drop and their performances suffer as time goes on. Under Enzo, he was actually unselfish and showed himself to be a team player. If you put him in a better team, he will flourish.
We’ve been waiting for a player like this for years and I for one wish him well. He’s far too good for this level and we to only receive £10m would be shocking for a player of his quality.
