I really wish people would not just post links without comment.

Surely evidence that we should actually do this more?

In all seriousness though (for a change) one of the reasons I came off Twitter ages ago was that the algorithm had convinced itself that I was into videos of hapless Russian servicemen having bits of their body blown off by drone dropped grenades and I would rather have seen less of that given the choice

  2. My earlier piss-take post about London proving quite popular so thanks for that but those of us that still dip into Facebook from time to time know that if I put it on there you'd get replies like "too right" and "yes I've been there and that's the sort of thing that happens all the time".

Perhaps that's what you lot were thinking as well

Fancy some good news for a change?

    https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/jan/12/london-homicide-rate-drops-to-lowest-in-more-than-a-decade

I'm sure some will question the figures and it certainly doesn't mean crime isn't a problem in London, but....

"London’s murder rate has dropped to its lowest in more than a decade...whilst attempts by individuals and organisations of dubious intent to make everyone feel everything is f***ed when it isn't have reached record highs"

They should've added the above in for clarity.

Those comparative stats for murder rates across different cities are interesting, aren't they?

I actually quite like this now, really didn't think I was going to on first listen (although in fairness I don't think he's ever put out a single either solo or with The Smiths that I didn't enjoy on some level)

I'm going shopping for running shoes this morning as it's fairly obvious the Adidas Supernovas I bought in reserve a couple of years ago aren't going to cut it (they've changed the sizing and I've given up any hope of them being comfortable) so mentally preparing myself for how soul destroying that's going to be

After all that fuss got myself a pair of New Balance 860s that seem to fit pretty well. Bit annoyed to see them for £15 less on THEIR OWN WEBSITE when I got in, though

    Great omen for tomorrow.

Those Cheltenham bastards won’t know what’s hit um

Me seeing a fox actually has been a pretty good omen for a positive City result previously.

It certainly is more reliable than me trying to force the issue by touching the football on the sport statue in town whenever I went in. That was bullshit, pointless even, as it turned out

  7. A fox just had a wander around our garden in the snow, quite the charming winter scene.

Usually it's rats we see so definitely an improvement on that

The hot water outlet was a ****ing rubber hose. Split and pissed water over the whole unit. By some miracle the electrics seem OK and a new outlet pipe (not rubber this time), pump and valve seems to have got it all in order.

Now it's working, time to flick it straight off.

Oh I spent half the time gassing to the bloke about systems. Self declared sad git.

Having had two rubber components fail on my boiler (neither catastrophically, thankfully) I feel your pain.

And yes, Raj is right, I've been looking out for your response

Never not when its on Sky, remember a decade ago V Middlesborough it was horrendous and still went on cos of Sky.

    Sky own footy.

That was the day when most businesses in town let everyone out early and it took them hours to get home, whereas if you left at normal time it didn't take much longer than usual for a lot of people. A few lessons learned there.

Also, fell on my arse in the Bingo car park walking to the game, but so much snow by then in a fun way

  10. Very much looking forward to the drive to work in my rear wheel drive car.

Could pop into the tyre place on the way and spend best part of 700 quid on all seasons tyres I suppose

In the full knowledge I'd be good for nothing today I did my longest run for at least 3 years if my Garmin is to be believed: 8.3 miles.

Very slow, but actually felt alright. Just as well as remembered I'm signed up for the Leicester Big 10k in April so I need to be doing SOMETHING

Spoke a bit too soon, my foot is really not happy about my efforts yesterday and is hurting in a new and exciting way, so let's see if that sorts itself or requires a physio session as per bleeding usual

What absolute rubbish,  many surveys have concluded that the people of cities populated by many from different backgrounds have far less of a problem with multi culturism than area's dominated by white British.  You only have to see where Farage gets his votes to see that ,  those that don't come into contact with ethnic minorities that are frightened of the unfamilier it seems.

Circumstances have brought me back into contact with a community I grew up in and I was a bit taken aback by some of the attitudes I've encountered. Before you even get anywhere near anything like race, religion, class, background or anything like that the 'othering' of literally anyone you don't know is quite something to behold
