This thread is 10% about Martin and 90% pure frustration at the club and the last few years of pain

its a very grim read and tbh the amount of hatred on this forum isn’t good for anyone’s mental health

everyone has an opinion but it’s turned into pure mob mentality hatred

the worst thing we can currently have this guy for is not liking his tactics or a crap spell at rangers - or quite simply he looks like a smarmy git - none of the above crimes of the century against us but the personal and even semi constructive comments are still well over the top in a negative way

I know my football as well as anyone and have seen the last 30 years as much as any of you on here and the continued negative outpost of hatred right now just doesn’t help anything or anyone

And yes this is a forum and yes your entitled to your opinion but let’s at least try and keep it constructive- would you talk to the guys face in the way you do on here ? And if you would your a really crap example of a decent human being

I’ll be giving him a chance - I don’t love the appointment but now it’s done the negative and hatred has to stop - take that into the ground again from August and it will be another tough place to be on a Saturday and I don’t want my young daughter to hear it or see it again this year - we as a fan base are as responsible as anyone to change the feeling around the place and it has to start somewhere

This is only another reason the decision is dumb though, they have chosen a manager who was guaranteed to keep the place toxic.

  2. He'll still be here because we've learned no lessons. If we have any sense we'd let him go to anyone willing to pay his wages. Don't know where this myth has come from that he's some brilliant player.

  3. Relegations are not good, particularly to the third tier. But it was another opportunity to recognise that we've been on the wrong path, to rid ourselves of the elements holding us back, and have a bit of a reset. Again we've decided, no, it's everyone else who's wrong.

I guess Cardiff and Birmingham have had success with possession based football in league 1 recently. If he gets us back to mid table Champ in 3 years then that's probably success. That's very much the ceiling here though and the toxic atmosphere is only going to persist with Martin in charge.

  4. His methods are good at ensuring his team beats teams they should beat (the wobble for us aside). At Man City he will have the best resources and so I can see them certainly finishing top 2.

His record against teams around his or better was quite poor though I thought. We took 2 points from Leeds and Ipswich. That could well be the difference between a title or not and I'm not sure I envisage him getting a better tune out of this Man City squad than Pep.

  5. I appreciate me putting on Sky Sports News is my own fault, but why are we still discussing the VAR disallowed goal against West Ham? I would have loved Arsenal to have bottled it but it looks like a sensible decision. Seems the TV channels try to confect controversy.

On social media over the weekend someone asked a fan outside the ground how they think we will do next season and his response was ''well... we should walk the league?''

Do these people never learn or just thick?

I think people will be in for a shock when they see what team we have left by the end of the summer window. It will be very much a league one side I think.

I get what your saying mate and believe it’s fair comment.

Especially paying your hard earned money too go and watch players that aren’t giving their all and picking up a wage too do so, slaps us all in the face.

However I’d very much expect there too be quite a substantial clear out of the current starting 11. The new lads are going to need the support no?? The new lads will have had absolutely nothing too do with the abysmal position the previous crop of “supposed” premier league quality players on premier league salaries stealing a living infront of our very eyes and getting us relegated.

Of the new lads when they come in might well be useless but they need too be given a chance, they need too be given our support, just how I feel pal.

Let's certainly hope so. A clear out is needed to show that lessons have been learnt. But I'm not holding my breath. Lessons weren't learnt 12 months ago and we've just repeated the greatest hits in terms of mistakes in running a football club. When Andy King is taking the first pre-season game we'll known lessons haven't been learnt again.

  8. If you drop down but are on a sound financial footing, you can probably just carry a squad which is too good for the division and hop back up as a mid-table Champ team. We are not in that position.

Fire sale will get rid of bad characters but will also starve us of quality. I'm expecting us to finish somewhere between mid-table and playoffs.
