I live in Hong Kong. It's the subpar safety netting of the scaffolding instead of the bamboo (which has been used for decades in the city) itself. Plus very poor cladding. 3 have been arrested for the cladding for now. Metal scaffolding is no less of a hazard but international media blame the fires on bamboo immediately. I find it very lazy, uninformed journalism.
