Town fan here. We were incredibly fortunate to get away with the Burgess foul on Dewsbury-Hall and that probably would have been 2-0 and game over, so I can understand feeling hard done by.
However, on the balance of play I think we deserved the point. In the first half, it took us a while to regroup after Hirst’s injury because Jackson took a while to grow into the game. Vestergaard and Faes were being given a few extra seconds on the ball and the high turnovers became far less frequent. Second half we were more creative but the ball wasn’t bouncing in the right places until the big slice of fortune we got for the goal.
I thought Faes was MOTM. From what I saw in the Premier League he was poor last season, but he did very well dealing with two players significantly quicker than him yesterday. Hutchinson’s run in the last five minutes is the only time he was properly skinned.
Hermansen on the other hand had a few shaky moments with his distribution. Still think he’s probably the best keeper in the league but on the four or five occasions I’ve watched a full Leicester game it’s happened more than once. Appreciate though that he’s asked to take more risks than most in his position and it’s probably just a coincidence that I’ve caught his less convincing performances.
Agree on the subs changing the game: Ndidi’s runs in that space between the CB and FB were causing Clarke lots of problems and he didn’t know whether to pick up Mavididi or stay central. Obviously his defensive attributes are superior to Casadei too and he’d have done better in the build up to the goal.
With Harness, his second challenge was a bookable offence but I think the ref kept him on because he realised he’d missed a clear foul on Chaplin about five seconds earlier.
This thread has been a very balanced and interesting read. I’m fairly certain you’ll be Champions and good luck. If we are able to maintain the good form and go up, I’d rather it be with your lot than Leeds.
