The worrying thing is we’ve not even come up against anyone good yet and we’ve been second best in every game for large periods.
Marti has been gifted with a ‘if Carlsberg made fixture list starts’. Coventry will batter us next week, mark my words.

The football has been honking under him apart from the odd glimpse here and and there. Everything he talked about being his philosophy hasn't materialised.
The jury is still massively out on Marti IMO, he talks a good game but he's making some absolute ridiculous player choices.
Him talking about Skipp and BCDR being his favourites is massively worrying.
But but but he grew up in Barcelona watching Cruyffball and has had fish and chips down the local………..

Seems you're pretty convinced that he's $hit by calling him an 'amateur' with a 'ropey CV' and conveniently disregarding our last (and best) game.
We were shite against Birmingham. They’re a poor championship team at best. We shouldn’t be having to pull out defensive masterclasses at home to league one standard opposition. A moment of brilliance won us that game. Marti is a fraud. Nelson and Monga should be the first names on the teamsheet for starters!
-
He was jumping out of challenges against Charlton, shouldn’t even be on the bench. With his contract running down, he’s gone into self preservation mode.

As per my last post in this thread, still not convinced. We were second best against 2 league one teams and only thanks to a moment of brilliance managed to get the 3 points from them games. Scrapped past a poor 10 man Sheffield Wednesday and then outplayed by a doggo Preston. Even before the red card today, we we were second best to a poor poor team in Oxford.
The only glimmer of hope was against an unfit second string Fiorentina.
You can shove your sound bites where the sun don’t shine, Marti’s an amateur with a ropey cv. Talks the talk but very much doubt he can walk the walk. Not convinced at all.

I know Ipswich's side has a fair bit of new blood but looks really ordinary to me, I definitely don't think they're a lock to click and get automatics based on that XI. They used up a fair bit of credit last season - they remarkably managed to finish below us.
They’ve certainly overpaid but have much more quality than us, especially in attack. They will overtake us in no time!

Yes!
They both literally did the exact same thing to force moves to city.

Yeah because that’s what he actually specialises in. Before he stepped up he was the academy director for years and I’m not slating him here but the difference of being an academy director to them being the director of football for the whole club, is absolutely massive.
100%, it’s obvious he’s out of his depth in his current role but obviously has something about him on the youth side.

Doesn't make up for Iversen, Tielemans, Iheanacho, Praet, Söyüncü, Amartey and Perez all leaving on frees in recent seasons. Or the subpar fees received for Barnes, Maddison or even Ndidi and Hermansen.
That's without touching on the abysmal signings we've made the last few seasons as well.
Tielemans was a lost cause. He purposely ran his contract down and was always going to leave on a free to pickup a large signing on fee. You can’t sell a player that won’t accept a move. He was turning down contract extensions from us for 2+years.

In May of last year I went to that u16 final vs Man City at the KP.
We won 2-1 & it should have been more. If the teams had played in neutral kits you would have thought that we were Man City. We dominated the ball & able to get around Man City with pace & flair at almost every stage of the game. I also think they were fielding over age players as theirs were physically bigger than ours (& Heskey's son was playing for them, & I swear to god he's over 16).
As I was watching Monga send their full back for his 10th hotdog, it dawned on me that this is the first exclusively Seagrave generation. These players would have come in at 12 & did the bulk of their youth development there. Not Belvior Drive like KDH, Thomas, Barnes etc..
Fast forward a year, & three of that very team have made first team appearances at 15,16 & 17 & are showing genuine promise, with more on the way.
Seagrave is working. It's not the vanity driven white elephant people on here seem to think it is.
Fans turn a blind eye but it’s Rudkin’s biggest achievement here to date. I’m led to believe Rudkin oversaw the whole academy setup at Seagrave. The amount of youth that has stepped up to the first team at both training grounds under Rudkin is never highlighted!

He has played 3 games in the league and has a group of players who don't want to be here, we have lost Ndidi and Bilal who would probably be starting if they was here and he has not been allowed to make any signings.
Way to early to judge
Tactics are tactics mate and I’m struggling to see any. We got battered by a league one standard team yesterday.

I don’t understand the hate for Faes. He’s our best cb by a country mile (not a high bar) but our weird fans love a scapegoat. I remember when this placed turned on Barnes 😂

I'm not totally sold on him either, but I think it's a bit early and unfair to question him tactically. This is the same manager who out tacticked Enzo when they won at our place and spanked Leeds 4-0. Both were impressive wins against superior sides by far on paper.
He was about two weeks late into pre season and there's definitely a lot of turbulence with transfers right now.
I will judge him in and around October/November after he's had a smoother run of games with knowing the squad he has at his disposable once the window has shut.
I do like Robins though and would have taken him previously too.
You’re probably right but it pains me to say it, Nathan Jones did a number on us yesterday and you could see he had done his homework.
Don’t get me wrong, we’d be mad to sack him as it’s way too early and he hasn’t signed a single player but I’ve not been impressed at all in how we’ve been set up or played in any competitive game so far. The friendly against an unfit Fiorentina B team is the only time I’ve seen us play anything decent.

Where’s all the jokers from the Hermansen transfer thread who ridiculed me when I mentioned that Jakub was a more than adequate Mads replacement and has the physical attributes to go further in the game than Mads.
Not one has come here to post their admiration for Jakub as it doesn’t fit in with their negative outlook on life which is full of hate.
We’re so lucky to have a top number 1 slot in without having to spend a penny. I’m adamant Jakub will go on to have a better career than Mads.

The brutal truth and the most worrying thing for me is, Marti has been outcoached and tactically outclassed in every game so far. We’ve won our two games from a moment of brilliance from a premier league player and the opposition going down to ten men.
I wasn’t enamoured when we announced Marti, mainly due to his past record or lack of to be blunt. He’s hardly pulled up any trees in his career thus far and he seemed to be dining off the fact that he grew up watching Cruyff’s Barcelona.
I was definitely won over by his fantastic grasp of English for a foreigner in his interviews and he comes across as a very confident, articulate and positive person which made me instantly warm to him.
From what I’ve seen thus this far, he’s not a very good coach/manager and my initial fear when studying into his background has been realised. As has been mentioned before, I even think Ruud is a better manager.
I still think we should’ve gone for Mark Robins, but as he’s not got a fancy foreign name, he would’ve been on an uphill battle with our fans from the start.

Not at all. I thinks Mads is top drawer.

Hard working as a central midfielder should be a prerequisite. It’s not a skill that needs to be taught and a good manager will ensure his players in those key roles
are exactly that. I think Cifuentes is a manager that will ultimately have a team of hard workers over time. Skipp’s nothing like Kante tho. For me, he’s a poor man’s Harry Winks and therein lies the problem.
I totally agree but it’s a combination of fitness, determination and mentality which are not a given.
I disagree with the Winks comparison though. Watch Skipp’s highlights when he was at Norwich in the championship. He was a solid ball winning midfielder which Winks is definitely not and Skipp is definitely not a deep lying playmaker which Winks most probably is but I’m still unsure.

First team high earner? Really?
Is that now or when he signs a pro contract next year?
Pro contract.

So why does he have a higher ceiling, he's only 6 months younger the Hermansen?
Much less experience, Mads was playing first team football consistently for 2 seasons at Brondby, whilst Jakub has had stop start loans with a handful of appearances. Goalkeepers are like a fine wine, get better with age. Experience is key, once he gets a few seasons under his belt playing consistently, I’m confident he’ll be a top keeper.

FFS thats an absolute scandal, all the more important we have managed to keep Monga (for now).
Worrisome Evans and Page could leave eventually for a pittance too if we aren't able to offer them a clear pathway to the 1st team this season.
As I said in a previous post of mine last season when everyone thought he was off, we had offered Monga an eye watering amount for someone his age hence why he was always going to sign. We’re talking first team high earner wages. I very much doubt we’re offering the same to Page and Evan’s but obviously don’t have any insight on these two.

Wow, I’m quite surprised that some fans think he had an average game on Sunday. Also quite surprised that you think he lacks energy @funkyrobot
Skipp’s pressing on Sunday was outstanding, and even though I was surprised, I can see why Marti tried him in a box-to-box role purely on the basis for Skipp to be an important pressing trigger. His performance on Sunday was energetic, and I thought it’s the most lively he has looked in a Leicester shirt.
The question of “What does he actually do” gets mentioned a lot, he doesn’t offer enough G/A for example to potentially be a box-to-box midfielder. The way I saw it on Sunday, our pressing was such an important part of our game, and Skipp was pivotal to that. He produced the kind of work that can go unnoticed, his off the ball work on Sunday was like watching a different version of Oliver Skipp.
Now it all depends how Marti wants to play him. Skipp has been more associated with the deep-lying 6 role, but I can see why Marti played him as a box-to-box midfielder on Sunday. Ideally I don’t think it should be a long term solution, along with a striker, that midfield role is the only other hole that needs filling in our starting 11.
But for Skipp himself, his performance on Sunday was encouraging imo. We’ve got so accustomed to him being shit, but I’m willing to be a bit more patient with him, history suggests there’s clearly a player in there, especially at Championship level, hopefully Marti can help bring the best out of him.
100%, he was the hardest working player on the pitch by a country mile. If he can keep that level of fitness up all season, he’ll be a key asset. He’s got a hell of an engine in him but lacks any ability, a poor man’s Kante performance dare I say.

As I said “he’s got a higher ceiling”. I never said he was currently a better keeper!

Sounds like a bunch of excuses to me. If you’re good enough you’re old enough, simples. Monga is better than Mavididi period.
