As predicted by many, he was one of our worst ever managers and a disaster of an appointment.
Seemed a nice guy and a bit of history with the club but should have been no where near first team management.
Sadly now always remembered for takin us down. -

If he is Leicester manager I’ll have a ropey but maaaaaybe plausible excuse if my wife checks my search history and finds Lucy Pinder’s name in there
Let’s reverse this , imagine you look into your wife’s search history and she’s been looking at topless photos of Russell

I’ve got 2
After he’s sacked we can look at breaking the World Record for most managers in short space of time.
After he’s sacked we never have to talk about him again.

The club is in a death spiral. Totally the wrong man at the wrong time with the wrong players to execute his outdated style. It makes no sense from any angle you view it from.
This exactly
Even is I was a fan of Russell ball we definitely won’t have the players to pull it off and no money to buy them so what a waste of time.

Oh, please don't mistake me for a half glass full kind of guy. I'm in no way positive. We are in real trouble. I was just pointing out that the wage bill of other teams isn't really relevant to the mess we are in.
Yeah I’m not all doom and gloom the same but I was just showing the gulf in wages and where we are as an example one of our players wages would cover a whole teams wages of some teams in League one.
The amount of clearing out is vast to have a chance of not failing PSR again in my opinion.
As far as takeovers go nobody is going to touch us with the wages we have now even with the latest players leaving. -

Selling Monga for £15m, El Khannouss (if we've not already borrowed against it) and whoever else we sell will generate more revenue than any of these teams can dream of so yes, we WILL have to cut or cloth to a degree but we are still not going to be in the same financial bracket as the majority of these other teams that pay the wages you just quoted.
I hope you’re right but I fear we’ve already borrowed against any money we will make on players.
Add to that the massive costs of the training ground and huge staff that other teams don’t have I fear we will be in the same situation as other teams in League One if not worse.
I like your positivity though and hope you are right. -

How much we spend in on wages compared to other teams in the league is irrelevant. What matters is how much we spend in comparison to how much we generate. THAT'S what matters. Obviously it is still too high but what other teams pay there players has no relevance to that or our finances.
It’s relevant because we all get the same revenue from the league so it’s a gauge to what we realistically need to expect.
obviously we will get more from a higher crowd or sponsorship possibly but it does matter what we spend on wages whilst in League one as we are going to get nothing at all compared to being in the championship and are in massive debt.
Point is we are going to generate nothing so it matters to see what others pay to survive or am I missing something. -

I didn’t think I needed to specify considering the amounts involved
Wycombe couldn’t possibly have paid a player 70k/week, never mind 130k !
but I appreciate the confusion it
Exactly

This exchange is a stark indication of how far we’ve fallen !
Confusing as the conversation was about weekly wages in League 1 and you didn’t state yearly but maybe that’s my stupidity

When Wycombe came up to the championship a few years back, they were paying league 1 wages.
most of their players were on 70/90k
the Welsh lad up top (vokes) was their top earner at 130k
130k a week,Vokes really? I highly doubt that. As that wound be what they are paying the whole sqaud now 🤣 do you mean a year ?
Wycombe Wanderers total wage bill for 2025 is:
- £7,903,480 per year
- £151,990 per week
The highest earning player in the squad is George Abbott earning £11,000 per week.

And borrowed Premier League TV money when they are in league 1, and have a world class training ground which will eat up half of their income a year just in running costs etc etc etc
I saw 👀 the other day that the average wage of a league 1 player is expected to be between £1000 & £4000 a week.
We’re still paying some players at the moment over £40,000 a week 🤦♂️😫And some people think 🤔 everything will be ok 👍 🥴

Not enough is said about Joachim. Unplayable on his day. Him and Heskey within a few years of one another and then not a single top level striker since (let's hope Evans/Hutchinson/Otchere break that drought)
Joachim was so exciting to watch when he burst onto the scene and for at least 12 months he was talked about being the next big England striker , he had some good years but injuries took there toll.
Definitely love to see him chat on the pod.
Monga shows flashes of big potential but like Heskey we won’t see his best years in a Leicester shirt.

To be blunt, I don’t give a crap if people who vote for them suffer. I care if those of us who won’t go near voting for them do.
If you’re stupid enough to vote for a one issue party, essentially out of racism, without having a clue about the rest of what they stand for, you deserve what you get. Make your bed and all that.
Agreed , maybe it has to get worse before it gets better again a bit like our Football club

Farage is actually going to be our PM in a few years, isn't he?
Utterly depressing.
It’s completely depressing knowing he will be a disaster for the country like Brexit. He's just better than anyone right now at Politics and has the backing of the right wing press.
The worst thing is the people voting for him will suffer so hard once the NHS has gone and we’re rounding up anyone with a foreign sounding name.-

One thing King Power have shown us is after last few appointments is that whoever anybody thinks on here it will be that it definitely won’t be and be a curveball that nobody was thinking or wanted and then we will all hope he’s the new messiah until we fail miserably AGAIN.

Weather be a factor in that but the Times article reporting a number of other reasons too
Labour’s communications department has to be the worst ever
Imagine if Labour shared daily good news stories like this as a way of fighting back at the Reform hatred, maybe it would shut them up a bit and people could start talking about other things like the economy.-

Russell Martin - Confirmed as First Team Manager
in Leicester City Forum
Posted
As it’s announced on Tallk sport Facebook page had a look at some comments as I thought maybe were being harsh on here.
I’d say 90% of fans from other clubs actually feel sorry for us or are laughing at us right now.
What an embarrassment.
