caution on banning orders from walkers

Am I the only one who thinks that those who sang bombing chants on saturday would be harshly treated if they were given life long bans? Am a season ticket holder in L1 and do not want to condone what was sung and didnt certainly join in with songs myself. However there have been times during late nineties in pen 1 at filbo that I have joined in with some songs as a 17/18 year old taht I am not proud of.

Hundreds of people sung some pretty horrible songs to chelsea a few years nback, following the death of matthew harding. Have to hold my hands up and admit that I got carried away and joined in before stopping to think about what I was singing about. Its not an excuse because I cant condone my actions but in a bid to wind up visiting supporters who were telling us how rubbishn we were, I joined in. Surely there must be lots of other folk who have got carriwed away in a moment and then regretted it. should this result in life long bans for hundreds of supporters?

As I mentioned earlier, i'm definately not condoning the singing of these songs. They are sick and hearless. Surely the way to stop it is for other fans is to boo when these chants are heard and show people consistently singing them that it is no0t harmless banter. Just feel that banning orders are not a fair way of dealing with it. How will the club decide who was singing the songs anyway? Through video footage it would be difficult to tell exactly what people were singing. Has it been blown out of proportion for the club to say they would ban anyone for any offensive chanting? Does that mean that telling visitors supporters that they're a bit quiet will result in me getting banned in the future.

All I'm gonna say on the matter is there are a lot of sick people about! Last season's disgraceful "We heard you ran from the Turkish" was in reply to The Leeds fans singing "we can seeing dying on the runway, we can see crying in snow" about Man Utd busby boys tragedy, fans are terrible sometimes, That wasn't on and they should have been banned, they weren't, alas we get this showing again!

All fans who join in with the kind of behaviour should be reviewed, banned and considered not being allowed ever to walk into any football stadium ever again!

Clubs have to be seen to be doing something more than slapping a few wrists. Remember how we felt after Leeds and Everton fans taunted us with racist abuse, leading to letters of apologies from both chairmen vowing to find the perpetrators and ban them. Noone said it was a harsh punishment then.

I think you have a point. I'm sure some of those who sang just got carried away in the moment. Looking back, I'm sure most of them will be disgusted with themselves.

I don't think you can use the 'getting carried away' argument as any kind of excuse. If you sing chants like that, then you're either twisted, dumb, or looking to impress those around you by replicating that type of behaviour.

Maybe England should be registered as a private club so it can get rid of the hate-filled chants of extremists as quickly as City can deal with chanting fans.
