The 18-year-old defender had been due to travel out with his international colleagues on Wednesday, but has been forced to miss the trip after he picked up an ankle injury in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Derby County. The tournament begins on Friday, October 7, with England taking on the Czech Republic, Poland A and Poland B during the following four days. Meanwhile, loan star Ryan Smith, who joined the Foxes from Arsenal last Friday, is included in the England under 20 squad to take on Holland at Turf Moor on Sunday, October 9. Peter Gilbert has been named in the Wales under 21 squad to take on Germany and Azerbaijan, while Momo Sylla is away on African Nations Cup qualification duty with Guinea. And finally, Alan Sheehan is included in the Republic of Ireland squad for their upcoming matches against Cyprus in Larnaca on Friday, October 7 and Switzerland at Tolka Park on Tuesday, October 11. Pity that Stearman won't be able to play... Didn't I hear the commentator say that his injury seemed quite light, since he was insisting on staying on for the remaining minutes of the first half (of the Derby game)? There you go, another accurate assessment Maybe his injury had a part to play in his poor performance on Saturday? Seemed a bit out of character letting someone like Smith beat him so easily.
