Ordinarily I'd agree but it was quite clear we are a huge work in progress and the style of play had lost effectiveness. I was impressed that he had finally found the initiate to try another way of playing and it seemed to be the kick start we needed just when it was starting to slip away from us, however its now just undone all that and then some. I don't see how they pick themselves up after tonight. Soyuncu banned as well is a big problem as a 3 man defence of Fuchs, Evans and Bennett or Morgan is vulgar.

Yeah and whilst stubbornness could be a bad trait, look at Pep Guardiola. He always plays the same way and puts players in according to the system. He even played Henry out wide, who was the best striker in the league at the time, to fit into his system and did not change it. When BR had a few bad results over Christmas and January, he should have stuck by his way of playing.

Even if he wants to change it, I don't know why this idea of going 3 to the back is being pursued. Without Chilwell and Ricardo we definitely do not have the players to play this system. I agree though, we're going to do well to keep teams out with some of the defensive cover we have available.
