Only joking mate, but not really my taste although I did like a couple of Dave Lee Roth's solo efforts especially the one where he was rock climbing in the video, cant remember the song though.

No problem The song was Just Like Paradise by Dave L Roth. Reason I posted thread is there's a highly rated tribute band on at The Nags Head in darkest Nuneaton next Sunday. I'm gonna go anyway and get drunk. One things for sure though I won't be wearing my Leicester top to a pub in Nuneaton. I'll get linched.!

TornadoShaunUK Posted 2 December 2005 Posted 2 December 2005 awesome band. I think I preferred the Lee Roth years rather than when they became 'Van Hagar' but even then they did some awesome stuff and indeed a few of my favourite songs of theirs are off 5150 which I believe was when they had Sammy Hagar upfront. Van Halen I is one of the all time great rock albums though..

Van Halen I is one of the all time great rock albums though.. I preferred the Roth years too but some of the Sammy stuff was good also. Just a shame Sammy's ego meant that he hated and refused to perform a lot of the old stuff live. I saw them at NEC in 1993 and I remember Hagar letting the crowd sing Runnin With The Devil rather than him. Still though the concert was breathtaking. Shame Eddie's addictions seem to dominate his life now. I've read that at the reunion tour last year he was too drunk to play properly on the last night and he also still smokes even though he's had part of tongue removed due to cancer. Wish they'd put there differences aside and reunite permanately either with Roth or Hagar. Eddie Van Halen is in a lot of ways the George Best of the music world.... a flawed genius.

I used to blame all the bands problems on Roth and Hagar but as time passes it seems Eddie and Alex are where the problem lies as they fall out with everyone. On recent Best Of Both Worls CD Eddie played bass on the tracks as he never invited Mike Anthony back...now that's harsh. Shame Hagar hasn't toured solo over here. I'm sure he'd fill a mid sized venue.

It's actually a good song, if rather poppy. It's called "I'll be ready" you'll recognise it as soon as you hear it.. "some people stand in the darkness, afraid to step into the light... " cue mirror and hairbrush..
